The group is composed of a high-performance computing team, a clinical data warehouse team and a data services team. The Lead HPC Architect, Cybersecurity, High Performance Computational and Data Ecosystem, is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the cybersecurity infrastructure and technical operations of Scientific Computing’s computational and data science ecosystem. This ecosystem includes a 25,000+ core and 40+ petabyte usable high-performance computing (HPC) systems, clinical research databases, and a software development infrastructure for local and national projects. Key Responsibilities: HPC Cybersecurity & System Administration: • Design, implement, and manage all cybersecurity operations within the HPC environment, ensuring alignment with industry standards (NIST, ISO, GDPR, HIPAA, CMMC, NYC Cyber Command, etc.)., • Implement best practices for data security, including but not limited to encryption (at rest, in transit, and in use), audit logging, access control, authentication control, configuration managements, secure enclaves, and confidential computing., • Perform full-spectrum HPC system administration: installation, monitoring, maintenance, usage reporting, troubleshooting, backup and performance tuning across HPC applications, web service, database, job scheduler, networking, storage, computes, and hardware to optimize workload efficiency., • Lead resolution of complex cybersecurity and system issues; provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members., • Ensure that all designs and implementations meet cybersecurity, performance, scalability, and reliability goals. The Senior HPC Administrator, High Performance Computational and Data Ecosystem, is responsible for a computational and data science ecosystem for researchers at Mount Sinai. This ecosystem includes high-performance computing (HPC) systems, clinical research databases, and a software development infrastructure for local and national projects. To meet Sinai’s scientific and clinical goals, the Senior Administrator has a good technical understanding for computational, data and software development systems along with a strong focus on customer service for researchers. The HPC Senior Administrator is an expert troubleshooter and productive team member and leads projects to effective and efficient completion independently under little to no supervision. Description The Scientific Computing & Data group at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) accelerates scientific discovery by supporting a high-performance computing and research data ecosystem. This includes a data commons and two clinical research data warehouses: one for ISMMS and one for the Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP), a multi-institutional research consortium () funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). Both warehouses use Microsoft SQL Server and the OMOP Common Data Model. The Lead Data Warehouse Engineer is a senior technical specialist responsible for leading development, maintenance, and operations of these research data warehouses. The role collaborates with warehouse team members and research stakeholders to expand functionality and integrate new data sources. Data transformations are built in Transact-SQL stored procedures, with SSIS used for orchestration. THE OPPORTUNITY/POSITION DESCRIPTION This opportunity to join the Department of Pediatrics at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the rank of instructor an exciting one. Columbia University Irving Medical Center, one of the nation's foremost academic health science center's working together with one of the nation's premier health systems, New York-Presbyterian Hospital. The desired candidate must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Cardiology and will have completed a Pediatric Cardiology fellowship. The PACCT team consists of six heart failure/transplant cardiologists directed by Dr. Marc Richmond, four cardiac surgeons led by Dr. Emile Bacha, and a multi-disciplinary team that includes five nurse practitioners, two pharmacists, two social workers and nurse transplant and VAD coordinators. Begun in 1984, our transplant program has performed transplant in over 650 patients and currently averages approximately 20-25 transplants annually. In addition, we have an established MCS program led by Dr. Sabrina Law, offering the full complement of temporary and durable devices including Syncardia Total Artificial Heart. The program has recently provided MCS to approximately 15-20 patients per year, including bridge-to-transplant in complex CHD patients and destination VAD therapy. A close relationship with our surgical colleagues and adult VAD specialists offers a unique experience for novel approaches to VAD use. Our program consists of an established cardio-genetics clinic under the supervision of Dr. Teresa Lee, as well as multidisciplinary clinic for cardio-oncology, advanced Fontan care and Neuromuscular diseases; our center is an HCMA Center of Excellence for the care of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. We have strong collaboration with our colleagues in ACHD and adult cardiomyopathy, heart failure and transplantation, participating in joint clinical conference and other opportunities. Our team has two inpatient services, comanaging patients in the cardiac ICU and serve as the primary attending for our patients on the cardiac floor working with pediatric residents and nurse practitioners. The Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S) is seeking a new Director of the Center for Radiation Research (CRR). This key leadership role will oversee and drive the development, implementation and management of radiation research initiatives within VP&S, as well as in the Department of Radiation Oncology, where it will be administratively based. The Center will serve as the translational "bench' research hub for the Department and the Director will report to the Department Chair. The Center Director will play an important role in VP&S scientific leadership, participating in the VP&S Scientific Council of Center and Institute Directors, the Herbert Irving Cancer Center leadership team, and in key University programmatic initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to be a world-class radiation scientist with a history of pioneering research accomplishments, leadership experience and a proven track record in identifying outstanding young researchers and fostering their careers. The Center is located at two campuses - CUIMC and at the Columbia University Nevis Laboratories in Westchester County. The latter houses the CRR's Radiation Research Accelerator Facility (RARAF, ___), the only accelerator facility in the United States dedicated to the pre-clinical study of the biologic effects of ionizing radiation. Major programs include pre-clinical research into heavy-ion charged particle and FLASH radiotherapy; understanding the biological effects of very low doses of radiation including radiation risks associated with CT scans, space radiation and nuclear power/events, and a new research portfolio leveraging far ultraviolet (far-UVC) light as a tool to control the spread of airborne-mediated microbial diseases.
