Job Description Department: Community Based Services Job Status: Full-Time FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Program Manager of Specialized CBS Positions Supervised: Therapists within the school, home, and community settings Amount of Travel Required: Shawnee County Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; hours may vary between 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. to meet program and client needs POSITION SUMMARY The Team Manager of School Based Therapy Services provides clinical and administrative supervision, leadership, and oversight of therapy staff serving children, adolescents, adults, and families across the lifespan within the school, home, and community settings. Reporting to the Program Manager of Specialized Community Based Services, this position ensures high-quality, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive service delivery consistent with the mission and standards of Astra Mental Health and Recovery, a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). The Team Manager promotes clinical excellence, professional growth, and accountability among therapy staff through reflective supervision, performance management, and coordination of daily operations. This role also supports Astra’s commitment to Access, Comprehensive Care, Excellent Outcomes, and Sustainability. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Clinical and Program Oversight • Oversee the daily operations of school based therapy teams providing individual, family, and group therapy to individuals across the lifespan., • Ensure that individuals seeking services are triaged promptly for risk and acuity and receive timely assessments either in-person or via secure telehealth., • Monitor service capacity, caseload distribution, and scheduling to ensure access, timeliness, and quality., • Provide consultation and supervision to therapists regarding treatment planning, evidence-based practices, and documentation., • Support the implementation of Astra’s trauma-informed and person-centered care framework across all therapy services., • Maintain compliance with CCBHC, KDADS, and Medicaid standards for assessment, treatment, and documentation., • Assist the Program Manager with data collection, reporting, and quality improvement initiatives to promote clinical and operational excellence., • Contribute to the development and refinement of clinical workflows and service protocols., • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration with case management, access, medical, and crisis services to support continuity of care. Team Leadership • Provide clear direction and guidance to therapy team members., • Set and communicate team goals and performance expectations aligned with Astra’s mission and program objectives., • Foster a positive, collaborative, and reflective work environment that encourages professional growth and staff well-being. Performance Management • Conduct regular supervision and annual performance evaluations for assigned therapy staff., • Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and support to improve staff performance and confidence., • Identify areas for development and create individualized professional growth plans., • Recognize and celebrate staff achievements and contributions to Astra’s mission. Resource and Workflow Management • Assign caseloads and responsibilities based on staff expertise, licensure, and workload., • Manage team schedules, ensure coverage, and monitor productivity expectations., • Support efficient use of staff and physical resources while maintaining service quality. Decision-Making • Exercise sound judgment in staff management, service coordination, and client care decisions., • Resolve conflicts promptly and collaboratively within the team., • Contribute to departmental and programmatic planning and improvement efforts. Communication • Facilitate effective communication across the therapy team and with other Astra departments., • Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-one check-ins to ensure open communication and accountability., • Report team progress, challenges, and outcomes to the Program Manager – Therapy Services. Hiring and Training • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new therapy staff., • Oversee orientation and ensure new employees receive adequate training in Astra policies, documentation standards, and trauma-informed care., • Identify ongoing training opportunities and collaborate with the Training and Education Department to enhance staff competencies. Compliance and Safety • Ensure adherence to Astra’s policies, procedures, and professional ethical standards., • Monitor compliance with state and federal regulations, including confidentiality, safety, and risk management protocols., • Demonstrate cultural and linguistic competence, • Approach interactions with individuals served and colleagues with a trauma sensitive lens, • Acts as an ambassador of the agency in the community setting, which may include doing public educational and informational presentations., • Support and actively promote the vision and mission of the agency and the philosophy of the strengths perspective, • Completes required trainings, • Other duties as assigned, as qualified and trained for. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Licensure: • Master’s or Doctoral degree in a behavioral health discipline (Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy)., • Licensed in the State of Kansas as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP)—LSCSW, LCP, LPC, LMFT—or equivalent., • Must successfully pass Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), Central Registry, and all required background checks., • Minimum of three (3) years providing clinical services in behavioral health., • At least one (1) year of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred., • Experience providing therapy across the lifespan and with diverse populations., • Familiarity with trauma-informed, evidence-based, and culturally responsive care. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge • Principles of clinical supervision, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based treatment., • CCBHC standards for access, assessment, treatment, and documentation., • Behavioral health best practices and outcome measurement tools., • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills., • Ability to coach and motivate staff toward excellence., • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data monitoring., • Model Astra’s trauma-informed and person-centered values., • Build trust and maintain collaborative relationships within the team and across departments., • Adapt leadership style to meet staff and organizational needs., • Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
