Job Description Job Title: Accounting Manager Position Summary: The Accounting Manager reports to the Corporate Controller. Responsible for the preparation, reporting and analysis of financials for a portfolio of ~30 residential apartment properties under our third-party management. A successful candidate will be comfortable in their expert knowledge and practiced fundamentals of accounting, along with overseeing a team of three (3) property accountants and a dedicated Accounts Payable person. We are seeking a candidate comfortable in an entrepreneurial and growth-oriented organization. • Oversee and prepare monthly bank reconciliations, • Oversee and prepare monthly owner reporting packages, • Oversee and perform variance analysis, comparing budget to actuals, • Oversee and perform monthly, quarterly and year-end financial closings, • Review GL for proper GL classification of invoices, • Reviews, audits and corrects resident ledgers, • Prepare month-end reclasses, prepaid reclasses and accrual journal entries, • Accurate and timely monthly financial packages – many are due by the 15th to 20th for the prior month period, • Review GPR, Rent Rolls and AR, • Work in coordination with clients, client’s Controllers, client’s Asset Managers, Accounts Payable, Property Managers and Regional Property Managers, • Oversee weekly AP checks for all properties within the portfolio, • Prepare monthly cash forecast for owner distributions, • Ensure that monthly mortgage payments, quarterly taxes and property insurance payments are being paid on time and recorded appropriately., • Reconcile and collected monthly management fees, driven by a percentage or revenue, • Work in collaboration with client level asset managers and their CPA's for tax filing preparations., • Be a liaison between AP system, Property Managers and vendors for accounts payable / cash-flow issues, • Assist in the preparation of property reforecasts and annual budgets as needed, • Assist in the preparation of files and journal entries related to real estate transactions (e.g. acquisitions)., • Assists with onboarding new property accounts Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: This position requires a dynamic accounting professional and well organized leader who can work independently and as a team player, prioritize tasks, is highly organized, detailed oriented and comfortable handling shifting priorities.
