Job Description Athletic Trainer – Professional Soccer SCORE Physical Therapy & Recovery Lounge In Partnership with Westchester Soccer Club (WSC) Mount Vernon, NY + Rye, NY Position Overview SCORE Physical Therapy & Recovery Lounge is seeking a highly motivated, clinically skilled Certified NY Athletic Trainer (ATC) to serve as the primary Athletic Trainer for the professional soccer team, Westchester Soccer Club (WSC). This role includes daily on-field coverage, game coverage (home + travel), injury prevention programming, rehabilitation coordination, and collaboration with SCORE’s clinical team to ensure elite-level performance, recovery, and communication. This is a unique hybrid role combining: • Professional soccer team coverage, • Travel responsibilities, • Clinical hours within a sports performance & recovery environment, • Direct collaboration with physical therapists and medical staff Schedule & Commitment • Team Coverage: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM, • Clinic Hours at SCORE (Rye, NY): 1–2 hours daily, • Games:, • 17 home matches annually (Mount Vernon, NY), • 17 away matches (travel required), • Preseason, postseason, and special events as required Primary Responsibilities 1. On-Field Medical Coverage • Provide daily on-field athletic training services during team training sessions, • Perform acute injury evaluation and immediate care, • Manage return-to-play decision making in collaboration with medical staff, • Triage injuries and determine referral needs, • Implement taping, bracing, and protective support strategies, • Monitor athlete readiness and workload 2. Game Day Responsibilities (Home & Travel) • Provide full sideline coverage at all home and away matches, • Prepare and maintain medical kit and emergency action plans, • Coordinate with opposing team medical staff, • Execute concussion protocol when indicated, • Manage acute trauma, soft tissue injuries, and emergency care, • Coordinate ambulance / EMS communication when necessary, • Travel with team and ensure continuity of care 3. Injury Prevention & Performance Support • Develop and implement injury prevention programs, • Monitor soft tissue status and overuse patterns, • Conduct movement screens and biomechanical assessments, • Assist with warm-up and activation strategies, • Track training load and identify injury risk factors, • Implement recovery strategies post-training and post-match 4. Rehabilitation & Return-to-Play Coordination • Develop and oversee progressive rehab programs, • Collaborate directly with SCORE physical therapists, • Assist with manual therapy and therapeutic exercise, • Guide athletes through return-to-play protocols, • Maintain RTP progression documentation, • Communicate status updates to coaching staff 5. Clinic Hours at SCORE PT & Recovery (Rye, NY) • Assist with patient flow during clinic hours, • Administer recovery technologies (Cryotherapy, Normatec, TECAR, Shockwave, Laser, etc.), • Support physical therapists in athlete rehabilitation, • Perform taping and soft tissue prep, • Maintain documentation and treatment notes, • Collaborate on injury prevention programming for WSC athletes 6. Documentation & Compliance • Maintain accurate daily injury reports, • Document evaluations and treatment plans, • Track return-to-play timelines, • Maintain HIPAA compliance, • Ensure compliance with league and governing body medical standards, • Maintain emergency action plans for training and match venues 7. Communication & Collaboration • Provide consistent communication with:, • Head Coach, • Strength & Conditioning Staff, • SCORE PT Clinical Team, • Team Physician (if applicable), • Provide weekly injury reports, • Educate players on injury prevention and recovery best practices, • Participate in staff meetings (in-person & virtual as needed) 8. Equipment & Facility Management • Maintain and inventory medical supplies, • Ensure sideline emergency equipment is game-ready, • Maintain rehabilitation equipment, • Order supplies as needed, • Ensure training room organization and cleanliness 9.
