Job Title: HGV Recovery Driver (HGV2 or HGV 1) - Night Shift Location: Depot based in Cranham (near Upminster), Essex Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Self-Employed) Note: this is NOT a zero-hours contract. Basic Salary: Trainee Drivers: £147 per day (review after 3-months probation) (equivalent to £35700 per year) Experienced Drivers: £156 - £180 per day (equivalent to between £38,000 and £46,800 per year) • Enhanced daily rate for "Experienced Drivers" is applied to drivers with current IVR certification or after completing IVR training (provided within the first 3 months of starting) Additional Pay: Bonus scheme for all drivers Overtime available Other Benefits: Full training provided (Driver's CPC, IVR certification and HIAB/Street-lifter) Ongoing professional development PPE supplied Company mobile phone Support from experienced team Assistance with setting up self-employed status via a recommended Umbrella Company About the Role Join a trusted and well-established recovery and automotive services provider with over 30 years’ experience. Their clients include Police, Ambulance & Fire Services, councils, fleet operators, major motoring organisations, blue-chip companies and private customers / general public. Working from the Cranham depot, Recovery Drivers, work on a 4-on / 2-off shift pattern, 12-hours per shift on a Night Shift roster (start times to be confirmed) 95% of their work is local within Essex and East London. For Recovery Drivers based in Kent and South-East London they have a second depot in Medway. Key Responsibilities • Recover broken-down vehicles to garages or home addresses, • Recover vehicles involved in road traffic accidents (minor or major), • Attend and recover vehicles involved in crime, • Perform compound recovery on behalf of Police, • Carry out minor roadside repairs (jump starts, wheel changes, etc.), • Use the Vehicle Recovery App for accurate job records, • Load and transport vehicles safely to designated locations, • Resolve challenging situations using initiative and professionalism, • Maintain quality standards and follow Health & Safety procedures Requirements • Full LGVC (HGV2) or LGVCE (HGV1) licence, • Current Digi Tacho and DCPC, • No more than 3 penalty points (minor endorsements only) - No DD, DR, or CD penalty points, • Ability to pass enhanced Police vetting and DBS check, • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently, • Confident and personable when dealing with customers, • Willing to work in all weather conditions, • Vehicle recovery or similar experience (1 year preferred). Note: the company is prepared to offer recovery driver training to non-experienced applicants Training & Progression • Full training for non-experienced applicants, • IVR certification provided (leading to enhanced pay rate), • HIAB training included for further skill development Shifts & Hours: Flexibility is required as vehicle recovery is a 24/7, 365 day per year business: The current shift pattern includes weekend and Bank Holiday working, as per the business need: • Pattern: 4 shifts on, 2 shifts off, • Hours: 12 hours per shift on a Night Shift roster (start times to be confirmed), • Overtime available on request Vetting Requirements: • Up to 5-years previous employment checks, • An enhanced Police Records check (NPPV Level 1 or 2) plus a DBS check, • All criminal convictions or cautions (UK or abroad) must be declared at the time of application, failure to disclose will result in any job offer being withdrawn, • All information will be treated in strict confidence and any disclosure made could affect eligibility for the role
