stylus was founded by former teachers and education technologists with a clear mission: to make reliable, teacher-quality AI marking accessible to every school — no matter its level of technology. Unlike most AI tools, stylus works seamlessly with paper as the primary interface. Teachers simply print resources, students complete their work, and stylus handles the rest — delivering accurate, curriculum-aligned marking and actionable feedback without requiring 1:1 device access. At the heart of stylus is rigour. Student work is transcribed through a multi-layered AI process that captures handwriting with better-than-human accuracy. Each response is assessed against nearly 100 teacher-authored criteria, rigorously validated to match or exceed human marker consistency. This ensures reliable, objective results at scale — without teacher oversight. Data privacy is built in. All student work is anonymised before processing, and no student content is ever used to train AI models. Teachers receive class-level reports, confidence scores, and suggested interventions, while students get targeted, teacher-quality feedback and clear next steps. Endorsed by the UK Department for Education and already transforming marking in schools nationwide, stylus combines innovative AI, deep classroom expertise, and robust quality assurance to save teachers time, protect student data, and raise educational standards everywhere. Job Title: School Operations Associate Duration: Permanent Contract: Full-time Hybrid / London office Reporting to: Director of Schools The Role We're looking for a sharp, organised, detail-obsessed graduate to join our Schools team. You'll be the operational backbone of how we onboard and support schools — making sure work gets uploaded and returned on time, the support inbox stays on top of things, and new customers have a seamless first experience with stylus. This is a hands-on, process-heavy role — especially in the early months. You'll spend your first weeks deep in the operational engine: uploading and returning student work, managing queries, booking onboarding calls, keeping our systems clean. It's not glamorous, but it's the work that makes everything else possible, and we take it seriously. If you do it well — and you will, because you're the kind of person who takes pride in getting the details right — the role grows with you. Within your first year you'll start shadowing product demos, supporting at events, handling renewals, and building real relationships with schools. Over time, you'll own your area. This is how careers at startups work: you earn your scope. What You’ll Do From Day One • Upload, process, and return student work accurately and on time, • Manage the schools support inbox — triage queries, respond or escalate as needed, • Book and coordinate onboarding calls for new customers, • Maintain and update records across our internal systems (Google Workspace, HubSpot), • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Schools team, • Handle operational tasks like supplier forms and documentation As You Grow • Shadow and then lead product dashboard demos with schools, • Support at conferences and events, • Take on subscription renewals and proactive school check-ins, • Identify and improve operational processes — we want you to make things better, not just keep them running, • Become a trusted point of contact for schools throughout their journey with stylus Who You Are Essential • A recent graduate (any discipline — we care about how you think, not what you studied), • Genuinely excellent attention to detail — the kind of person who notices when something's slightly off, • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload to deadlines, • Clear, professional written and verbal communication, • Comfortable with technology — confident across Google Workspace, and quick to pick up new tools, • Self-starting and proactive, but with the judgement to ask for help rather than guess when you're unsure, • Honest about what you don't know. We'd rather hear "I'm not sure — can I check?" than a confident wrong answer Desirable • Previous experience in an operational, administrative, or customer-facing role (internships, part-time, or voluntary all count), • Interest in education, edtech, or startups, • Experience working in a small or fast-paced team What We Offer • A permanent, full-time role at one of the UK's fastest-growing edtech companies, • Real responsibility from day one — not busywork, not making coffee, • A clear growth path from operations into school advisory, demos, and account ownership, • Structured training and ongoing mentoring, • A team that's small enough that your work visibly matters, • Hybrid working from our London office What we look for At stylus, we look for more than experience on a CV. We look for how someone thinks, learns, and contributes—how they approach problems, people, and progress.
