The Role This is a hands-on role covering both basic maintenance tasks and post-event cleaning. Key Responsibilities General handyman duties: light repairs, fixture maintenance, small carpentry/electrical jobs Event support: setup/breakdown of furniture, lighting, AV equipment Post-event cleaning: floors, toilets, rubbish disposal, pressure washing Ongoing cleaning/maintenance of warehouse and canal-side outdoor space Monitor supplies and flag issues needing escalation Liaise with the venue manager and visiting crews as needed Ideal Candidate Has Experience in event venues, studios, galleries, or commercial properties Practical skills: basic plumbing, electrics, painting, carpentry Experience with cleaning tools: industrial vacuums, floor buffers, pressure washers Familiar with health & safety standards (COSHH, risk assessments, etc.) Self-motivated and trustworthy Flexible availability, including weekends and late-night shifts Desirable (but not essential) CSCS, IPAF, or PASMA certification First aid trained Local to East London

We are currently seeking a part-time Maintenance Assistant to join our dedicated Maintenance Department. Working closely with our Maintenance Manager and the business owners, this hands-on role is key to supporting the smooth operation of our three dynamic sites: Fallow, our flagship restaurant; Fowl, our neighbouring concept; and our newest opening, Roe, in Canary Wharf. The successful candidate will bring energy, initiative, and a problem-solving mindset to every task. Key responsibilities: - Support day-to-day maintenance needs across all three restaurant sites. - Carry out basic repairs including plumbing, electrics, carpentry, and decoration. - Source and collect materials or parts needed for tasks. - Assist in the planning and execution of preventative maintenance (PPMs). - Liaise with contractors for quotes, scheduling, and supervision of works. - Maintain workshop tools and stock, ensuring efficient organisation. - Contribute to larger projects such as equipment installation or overnight refurbishments. - Ensure all work is completed safely, professionally, and with minimal disruption. About you: - Hands-on experience with plumbing and electrical repairs. - Competent in using hand and power tools (e.g. drills, angle grinders, multi-tools). - Skilled in painting and decorating, with a keen eye for detail. - Familiar with commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, refrigeration, and gas systems. - Basic understanding of fire suppression systems and kitchen safety protocols. - Comfortable liaising with asset management providers to coordinate equipment servicing and repairs. - Organized and proactive, with good time management and communication skills. - A strong awareness of health & safety practices and safe working procedures.
