QHSE Manager \n 📍 Baglan Energy Park, Edinburgh or London (Hybrid) \n 🕒 Full-Time | Permanent \n \n About the Role \n We are seeking an experienced QHSE Manager to lead and continuously improve our Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) framework across operational sites, projects, and technical services. \n This is a hands-on leadership position that combines strategic governance with operational delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement, and embedding a strong safety and quality culture within a high-hazard industrial environment. \n \n About the Company \n Our client is a rapidly growing clean energy business at the forefront of the UK's energy transition. Operating within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment, the organisation is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence. \n \n Key Responsibilities \n \n Health, Safety & Risk Management \n\n • Lead the development and implementation of the company's Safety Management System.\n, • Ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation, including DSEAR, PSSR, HASAWA, LOLER, and PUWER.\n, • Support the safe design, construction, commissioning, and operation of industrial process facilities.\n, • Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and mitigation activities.\n, • Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.\n, • Act as the primary point of contact for regulators, clients, and external stakeholders.\n, • Oversee permit-to-work (PTW) and management of change (MOC) processes.\n, • Manage contractor safety, site inductions, and supplier compliance.\n, • Develop emergency response and business continuity plans.\n, • Ensure statutory reporting requirements, including RIDDOR compliance, are met.\n\n Environmental Management \n\n • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and reporting obligations.\n, • Develop and maintain environmental management systems aligned with ISO 14001 principles.\n, • Support sustainability and ESG initiatives.\n, • Conduct environmental risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.\n\n \n Quality Management \n\n • Own and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 requirements.\n, • Develop and improve business processes, procedures, and controls.\n, • Ensure effective document control and governance practices.\n, • Manage non-conformances and corrective/preventive action processes.\n, • Oversee supplier quality management and performance improvement initiatives.\n, • Lead internal audit programmes across Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment.\n, • Manage external audits, including ISO, client, and regulatory assessments.\n, • Monitor compliance performance and drive improvement plans.\n, • Provide assurance to senior leadership on adherence to company procedures and standards.\n\n \n Training & Culture \n\n • Deliver QHSE training and awareness programmes.\n, • Promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.\n, • Support managers and leaders in fulfilling their QHSE responsibilities.\n, • Drive behavioural safety initiatives throughout the business.\n\n \n Essential Experience \n\n • Proven QHSE, HSE, EHS, or SHEQ leadership experience within a high-hazard industry.\n, • Experience in sectors such as:\n, • Hydrogen\n, • Industrial Gases\n, • Oil & Gas\n, • Chemicals\n, • Petrochemicals\n, • Energy Infrastructure\n, • Strong knowledge of UK regulatory requirements, including DSEAR, PSSR, HASAWA, environmental permitting, and related legislation.\n, • Experience managing ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems.\n, • Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.\n, • Experience leading audits, investigations, compliance programmes, and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\n \n Why Join Us? \n\n • Opportunity to play a critical role in a growing and innovative industrial sector.\n, • Significant influence on business-wide safety, quality, and environmental standards.\n, • Collaborative and forward-thinking culture.\n, • Competitive salary and benefits package.\n, • Professional development and career progression opportunities.\n\n
