We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join an innovative team delivering advanced technology solutions for the film and television industry. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting‑edge embedded systems while helping shape the future direction of a live and evolving project.\nRole overview\nYou will be responsible for developing and maintaining embedded software for custom PCB solutions, working across both hardware and software domains. The role requires strong expertise in embedded C/C++ programming and experience integrating multiple communication protocols.\nThe project is already underway with key architectural decisions in place, however there is significant scope for you to influence technical direction and contribute as a foundational member of the engineering team.\nKey responsibilities\n * Write, maintain, and optimise C/C++ code for embedded systems and custom PCBs\n * Implement and debug communication protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, and Ethernet\n * Integrate embedded software with third‑party hardware and systems\n * Contribute to the design and development of embedded software architecture\n * Conduct detailed testing, debugging, and fault analysis of embedded systems\n * Produce clear and accurate technical documentation\n * Work closely with hardware engineers and other team members to ensure effective system integration\nEssential skills and experience\n * Proven experience developing embedded software using C and C++\n * Strong background working with microcontroller peripherals and interfaces\n * Ability to read, understand, and work from electronic schematics\n * Good understanding of communication standards at the physical layer and above\n * Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills\n * Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team\n * High level of attention to detail, including documentation\n * Ability to commute to West London when required/Hybrid working\nDesirable skills (not essential)\n * Experience with schematic design and PCB layout\n * Reverse engineering of communication protocols\n * Fault finding and component‑level electronic repair\n * Familiarity with source control systems\n * Experience working with FPGAs (VHDL/Verilog)\n * Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS\n * Experience with, or interest in, AI‑assisted development tools\n * Understanding of Film and TV production systems\n * C++ plugin development experience\n * Full clean UK driving licence\nWhy Join?\nThis is a rare opportunity to join a technically ambitious project at a pivotal stage, offering real influence over how systems evolve while working on technology used at the forefront of film and television production
