GIS Analyst Location: Aberdeen Reporting to: Development Company Overview Join Great British Energy and be part of powering the UK's Clean Energy Future At GBE, we're not just building an energy company - we're shaping the future of the UK's energy landscape Our mission is clear: • Drive clean energy deployment across the UK as a strategic developer, investor, and owner of renewable projects, • Purpose-driven work: Be part of a national effort to accelerate the clean energy transition, • Career growth: Opportunities to develop expertise in cutting-edge energy technologies and strategic investment, • Collect, clean, validate, and maintain geospatial datasets from multiple internal and external sources, • Perform spatial analysis, modelling, and geoprocessing to identify patterns, trends, and relationships that support decision-making, • Produce high-quality maps, dashboards, and spatial visualisations for reports, presentations, and digital platforms, • Develop and apply appropriate cartographic standards, symbology, and visualisation techniques to ensure clarity and consistency, • Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to define GIS requirements and analytical needs, • Translate complex spatial analysis into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences, • Maintain and enhance GIS databases, workflows, and technical documentation, • Support the use of GIS software and platforms, including ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, and web-based GIS solutions, • Ensure data accuracy, metadata standards, version control, and adherence to GIS best practice, • Comply with data governance, security, and licensing requirements, • Strong experience with GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, • Proven ability in spatial analysis, geoprocessing, and data visualisation, • Experience working with spatial databases such as PostGIS and SQL Server, • Basic scripting or automation experience, with Python preferred, • Good understanding of coordinate systems, map projections, and spatial data formats, • Knowledge of ESRI Geodatabases and Ordnance Survey data and standards, • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, • Ability to interpret spatial data and communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, • Excellent organisational skills, with high attention to detail and data accuracy, • Ability to work effectively to tight deadlines and with minimal supervision, • Experience with web GIS applications and dashboards, such as Experience Builder, Mapbox, or Leaflet, • Experience xrnqpay supporting policy, planning, or infrastructure-related programmes or projects, • Degree, or equivalent practical experience, in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Planning, or a related discipline, • Proven experience working in a GIS Analyst or similar geospatial role, • Experience working with large or complex datasets is desirable, • Takes ownership, shows confidence in decision-making, and is willing to challenge constructively, • Focuses on delivering meaningful outcomes and making a positive, lasting impact, • Works collaboratively, valuing different perspectives and building inclusive relationships, • Proactive and adaptable, with a curiosity to explore new ideas and improve ways of working, • Competitive base salary, • Performance-related bonus scheme, • Excellent pension scheme, • 4x salary life assurance, • Group income protection, • 38 days annual leave, • Flexible working arrangements, • Ongoing professional development and training
