Controls System Design Engineer – Power & Generation Location: Scotland (preferred) | Open to strong candidates UK-wide Salary: Negotiable (DOE) Type: Predominantly office-based with site visits We’re looking for a Controls System Design Engineer to take full ownership of power generation control projects — from initial concept through to commissioning. This isn’t a narrow design role. You’ll be hands-on across the full lifecycle, working on complex systems involving synchronisation, load sharing, and grid compliance. The Role You’ll lead the design, integration, and delivery of control systems across generator and power applications. Key responsibilities: • Design electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and GA layouts using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN, • Configure and programme ComAp (InteliGen/InteliSys) and Deep Sea (DSE 8000/7000) controllers, • Deliver complex load sharing and synchronising systems, • Ensure full compliance with G99/G100 and DNO requirements, • Carry out technical site surveys and define system integration points, • Support and guide control panel build and assembly, • Proven background in power generation, standby power, or energy systems, • Strong hands-on experience with ComAp and/or DSE control systems, • Ability to design 3-phase electrical systems and LV control circuits, • Solid understanding of PLC logic and comms protocols (Modbus, CANbus, SNMP), • Experience delivering systems aligned to G99/G100 regulations, • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or similar), • 18th Edition (BS 7671) desirable, • End-to-end project ownership — not just sat behind a screen, • Work on technically complex, high-value power projects, • Flexibility on location for the right individual, • Package tailored to experience
