We are seeking a Design Engineer (Protection & Control) to join our expanding team and support a wide range of complex engineering projects contributing to the UK's Net Zero ambitions. Our work spans the full energy system - from generation, transmission, distribution, and storage to end-use industrial applications. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork, high-quality project delivery, and the ability to leverage professional networks for insight, collaboration, and new opportunities. Key Responsibilities * Support Senior Engineers/Team Leads in effective project delivery. * Design Protection & Control / SCADA / Substation Automation systems from 11kV to 400kV using AutoCAD, including: * Single Line Diagrams * AC/DC schematics * Panel GA and wiring drawings * Switchgear terminations/interconnections * Cable schedules and sizing calculations * Produce specifications and P&C logic drawings for substations (11kV-400kV). * Familiarity with PSL logic and relay setting files. * Work across both greenfield and brownfield substations. * Collaborate with designers, construction teams, and engineering colleagues. * Follow project plans and pathways set by senior staff. * Build strong working relationships internally and externally. * Ensure delivery within time, budget, and quality expectations. * Provide technical support and respond to site queries, TQs, RFIs, etc. * Maintain clear communication and effective prioritisation. * Uphold SHEQ standards and company quality processes. Qualifications & Experience * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field (2:1 or above preferred). Master's degree advantageous. * Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with IET/IEE preferred. * 4-5 years' experience in protection & control design, substation automation, and SCADA systems. * Additional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH or specialist P&C training) beneficial.
