Your Mission: As a Self-Employed Fundraiser with SGL, you will be the vital link between the public and the important causes we support. Our teams span six street food brands within an immersive, traveling food hall across two floors. Each quick-service food brand operates from its own converted kitchen unit and is run by a close-knit team of around 10 people. You'll be part of a smaller team focused on one brand, while also working alongside a larger, collaborative food hall team. Before your first session, you will complete a paid onboarding and induction (billed at £15.00), which covers ThreadPoint’s curriculum framework, safeguarding procedures, and community delivery approach. + The Role Community sessions are where ThreadPoint’s work comes to life beyond the classroom. As a Generalist Lead in community settings, you will facilitate our story-led infrastructure literacy workshops for intergenerational audiences — children and adults learning side by side in libraries, community halls, and public venues. You will lead the session independently, bringing energy, warmth, and genuine curiosity about the world. You are confident holding a room of mixed ages and backgrounds, creating a space where a five-year-old and their grandparent can both have a lightbulb moment about the systems that shape daily life. + Responsibilities • Lead the full ThreadPoint community workshop experience from start to finish, • Read and animate our anchor storybook, Where the Internet Goes to Sleep, for mixed-age audiences, • Guide participants through hands-on STEM and creative building activities, • Foster an inclusive, welcoming environment where all participants feel seen and supported, • Manage group dynamics confidently across a wide range of ages and backgrounds, • Ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of all children in the room, • Interact warmly and professionally with community members, venue staff, and partners, • Manage set-up and pack-down of all workshop materials independently, • Complete the ThreadPoint post-session timesheet and invoicing form within 48 hours + You’ll Be Great For This If You... • Are confident facilitating and holding a room of mixed ages — from young children to adults, • Are warm, adaptable, and naturally connect with people from all walks of life, • Have experience in community work, youth work, education, or facilitation, • Are comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of a session, • Are organised and reliable, particularly with logistics and materials, • Hold or are willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate, • Have the right to work in the UK + Desirable (But not Essential) • SEND awareness and experience supporting participants with additional needs, • Background in STEM, digital literacy, or the built environment, • Experience with digital gaming environments and a willingness to develop this further, • Knowledge of construction, architecture, or infrastructure, • Acting, performance, or storytelling experience, • Experience delivering in Hackney, Newham, Camden, or Tower Hamlets communities + What We Offer • Freelance fee of £20.00/hour (£60.00 per community session), • Paid onboarding and induction at £15.00, • Flexible, session-based work that fits around other commitments, • The chance to be part of something meaningful and growing, • A supportive, mission-driven team that values your expertise, • Assistance obtaining a DBS check if needed + Our Safeguarding Commitment ThreadPoint is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and community members we work with.
