About Us Machnet Medical Robotics (MMR), founded in 2020, is on a mission to revolutionize medical robotics. Our guiding principle is simple: innovation must improve patient outcomes, support clinicians without disrupting workflows, and empower healthcare staff rather than adding burden. MMR is a well-funded company with long-term investors and a strong financial foundation. Our hardware and software teams have developed a fully functional medical robotic platform that has successfully completed animal trials. As we move into the next phase, we are refining the mechanical design for production with a focus on safety, reliability, manufacturability, and scalability, preparing our technology for deployment in hospitals worldwide. About the Role We are seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in medical or robotic systems to join our growing engineering team in central London. In this role, you will hold a senior technical position, contributing directly to the design, development, and optimisation of critical mechanical systems while supporting the transition from prototype to production. You will work hands-on across the full product lifecycle and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, manufacturable, and safe mechanical solutions. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and refine mechanical components and subsystems for medical robotic platforms, • Own mechanical designs from early concept through prototyping, testing, and production readiness, • Apply rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC milling to iterate quickly and validate designs, • Make informed decisions on materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes with a focus on performance, reliability, and cost, • Collaborate closely with electrical, software, systems, and regulatory teams to ensure seamless integration, • Contribute to mechanical architecture decisions and support system-level trade-off analyses, • Establish and follow engineering best practices, documentation standards, and design controls, • Support design for manufacture and assembly activities and supplier engagement, • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, • Drive continuous improvement of existing designs based on testing, feedback, and field learnings Who We’re Looking For • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, • 6+ years of experience designing and developing complex electromechanical systems, ideally in medical devices or robotics, • Strong hands-on experience with rapid prototyping methods such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining, • Solid understanding of materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes, including injection moulding and scalable production techniques, • Proficiency in parametric CAD tools such as SolidWorks, • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment, • Proven ability to take ownership of designs and deliver them from concept to production, • Eligibility to work on-site at our central London office Experience We Value • Experience developing mechanical systems for medical robotics or regulated medical devices, • Exposure to design controls, risk management, and verification and validation activities, • Startup experience or comfort working across disciplines and shifting priorities, • Familiarity with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and production ramp-up, • Experience contributing to patents or protecting mechanical intellectual property Why Join Us? At MMR, you will work at the intersection of robotics, AI, and healthcare, building technology that directly impacts patient care and clinical outcomes. You will join a mission-driven, collaborative team where your technical expertise will meaningfully shape the future of medical robotics. We believe technology must serve people responsibly. Human-centred innovation, integrity, and long-term responsibility guide how we design products and how we support our team members’ growth and well-being. What We Offer • An international, interdisciplinary team based in Central London and Zwolle, Netherlands, • A key technical role in a rapidly growing medical device startup with global ambitions, • A central London office with a well-equipped prototyping space, • Ongoing professional development through training, workshops, and conferences, • An inclusive, supportive workplace culture, • A competitive salary package aligned with industry standards
