GKD Technologies are market leaders in the design and manufacture of advanced safety control systems for heavy plant and machinery. Since 1994, our systems have been widely used across industries where machines feature articulated arms or booms, including construction, utilities, lifting, and specialist access equipment. Our product range enables operators to safely control machine height, slew and load, through to advanced Rated Capacity Indicator systems that deliver fully integrated machine safety and operational control. The Role We are looking for a Service & Installation Engineer with experience working on plant, machinery or specialist vehicles to join our team. This is a hands-on field role, installing and servicing safety control systems on a wide range of heavy equipment. You will work directly on customer machines across the UK, with occasional international travel supporting equipment manufacturers and customers overseas. The role will sometimes require staying away from home for several nights during the week, depending on installation projects and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities • Installation and commissioning of GKD safety systems on heavy plant machinery, • Fault finding and diagnostics on installed systems, • Carrying out servicing, calibration and upgrades, • Supporting machine manufacturers and customers with technical advice, • Ensuring installations meet GKD and industry safety standards, • Completing service reports and installation documentation, • Providing feedback from site to support product development and improvement Ideal Background This role is particularly suited to engineers who have experience working on: • Construction plant, • Cranes or lifting equipment, • Access platforms / MEWPs, • Specialist vehicles, • Agricultural machinery, • Industrial equipment with hydraulic or articulated arms We Are Looking For Someone Who • Has practical electrical, electronic or electro-mechanical engineering experience, • Is confident working directly on heavy machinery, • Has strong fault finding and diagnostic skills, • Is comfortable working independently in a field-based role, • Is willing to travel across the UK and occasionally internationally, • Is willing to stay away from home when required for installations, • Holds a full UK driving licence, • Experience with control systems, sensors, CANbus or safety systems would be beneficial but is not essential.
