Facilities Officer (Temporary) Location: Penge, London SE20Contract: Temporary until June 2026 (with likely extension)Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (office-based)Pay rate: £16.12 per hourStart: Immediate start available A well-established housing association based in Penge, SE20 is seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Officer to join their Property & Facilities team on a temporary basis. This is a hands-on, customer-focused role ensuring the office estate is safe, compliant, well-maintained and welcoming for colleagues, residents and visitors. There is a strong likelihood of extension for the right candidate. Main Purpose of the Role To ensure the office estate is safe, secure and fully compliant with statutory obligations while providing a clean, tidy and productive workplace. The Facilities Officer will take ownership of site standards, lease obligations and service delivery, ensuring excellent customer service and cost-effective management of resources at all times. Key Responsibilities Facilities & Compliance • Ensure sites are safe, secure and compliant, including:, • Weekly fire alarm and panic alarm tests, • Six-monthly evacuation drills, • Health & Safety audits, • Accident reporting and desk occupancy audits, • Maintain site logbooks, compliance trackers and shared drive documentation, • Conduct regular building checks and ensure issues are resolved satisfactorily, • Report, monitor and manage building and maintenance issues, • Manage Fire Wardens, Fire Marshals and First Aiders to ensure adequate coverage, • Understand and manage lease obligations and support rent/service charge reviews, • Coordinate and supervise third-party contractors on site, • Build strong working relationships with suppliers and service partners, • Inform key stakeholders of issues affecting building or business operations, • Track budget spend for allocated sites, • Raise purchase orders, process payments and obtain authorisations, • Act as first point of contact for customers, residents and visitors, • Ensure visitors and residents are welcomed, booked in and hosts notified, • Provide a professional, “one-stop shop” customer service experience, • Control deliveries, incoming/outgoing post and courier bookings, • Manage staff ID passes, access control and car parking (where applicable), • Maintain catering supplies, stationery stock, meeting rooms and kitchens, • Monitor printers/MFDs, replenish stock and log/report faults, • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach, • Professional, credible and confident communicator, • Empathetic and culturally aware when dealing with residents and users, • Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), • Knowledge of video conferencing and AV equipment, • Analytical, methodical and detail-focused with strong literacy and numeracy, • Previous experience in Facilities Management preferred but not essential
