The Registered Nurse Associate role bridges the gap between the Rehab Care Assistants and Registered Nurses. The role is professionally regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Holders of this qualification will be required to register and re-validate as per NMC registration requirements in order to practice as a Nurse Associate in England. Main duties of the job Within community inpatients, the Nurse Associate role is to contribute to the work of the team in providing the highest quality of physical health care and participate in on-going assessment process of health needs and the implementation of planned care in a physical health inpatient unit over the 24/7 period that meets the needs of the patients. The post holder will be working in an integrated multi professional inpatient team that includes a Ward Matron, Team Leaders, Staff Nurses, unregistered staff, therapy MDT, medical staff and wider trust colleagues. The post holder will provide quality care for a group of patients specialising in rehabilitation in a physical health inpatient unit (and palliative care in one of the units – Danetre Hospital). We provide sub-acute care and rehabilitation for patients stepping down from acute hospitals, step-up patients from the community and admission avoidance into acute hospitals if suitable. Detailed job description and main responsibilities -Developing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care, medication administration and supporting doctors’ rounds, providing personal care, clinical observations, dressing, moving and handling and providing nutritional support to patients. -Good communication skills are required to liaise with patients, families and other colleagues and documenting care provided. -Clinical skills include recording patient’s physical observations and ECG recordings, assessing patients’ conditions through observations and test results, assess comfort of patients and instigate any emergency procedures as required. -Ability to safely manage and administer medication as required by the service area – following supervised practice and medication competency sign off, will be required to undertake medication Person specification Qualifications Active Nurse Associate registration with NMC Level 5 Foundation Degree or equivalent Previous inpatient/rehabilitation care experience Additional relevant care certificate or post-reg training Skills Ability to deliver safe patient care, including medicine administration Basic IT and electronic patient record skills Able to record/report physical observations, ECG Understanding of sub-acute rehab & palliative care Experience using SystmOne or similar EPR Personal Able to deliver care that includes moving & handling Friendly, approachable, team-focused attitude Professional manner; upholds NMC Code By completing an application you are giving authorisation for the transfer of your data.
