SEMH Specialist Tutor - Core Subjects (Ormskirk) Location: Ormskirk Pay Rate: £30 per hour Job Type: Part-Time, Flexible Hours Start Date: After Easter Break We are seeking an experienced SEMH Specialist Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one support in Maths and English to learners in the Ormskirk area. This role is ideal for someone who can combine academic tuition with emotional support, helping students build confidence, regulate their emotions, and re-engage with learning. About the Role • Provide one-to-one support for students with SEMH needs, focusing on emotional regulation, confidence-building, and behaviour management., • Deliver tailored Maths and English lessons that match each learner's academic level and individual needs., • Create a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment that encourages engagement and progress., • Use positive behaviour strategies and a patient, consistent approach to overcome challenges., • Track and monitor progress, sharing updates with parents, carers, and professionals where appropriate. Essential Requirements • Minimum 1 year of experience supporting students with SEMH needs., • Experience delivering Maths and/or English at Functional Skills or GCSE level., • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build trusting relationships., • Right to work in the UK., • Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one. Desirable Qualifications • Teaching qualification such as PGCE or QTS, or relevant experience in education or youth work., • Training in trauma-informed practice, behaviour support, or safeguarding., • Experience supporting learners with Autism, ADHD, or other additional needs.
