Multi-Trade Operative (Sub-Contractor) Must have own transport, does not need to be a van, \n Location: Croydon (with potential work across London)Contract Type: Self-Employed / Sub-ContractorWorking Hours: Monday to Friday, typically 8:00am/9:00am to 5:00pm, with occasional weekend work availableDuration: Long-term contract opportunity with ongoing work available \n Role Overview \n We are seeking an experienced and reliable Multi-Trade Operative to support a large voids and refurbishment programme within social housing properties across Croydon and Greater London. \n The successful candidate will be a competent all-rounder with experience across a range of trades and capable of carrying out refurbishment and maintenance works to a high standard. The initial project consists of approximately 60-70 void properties, with further opportunities available across London upon successful completion. \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Carry out general property refurbishment and maintenance works.\n, • Complete basic plumbing repairs, including:\n \n, • Changing taps\n, • Repairing minor leaks\n, • General plumbing maintenance\n \n, • Undertake basic electrical works, including:\n \n, • Replacing sockets\n, • Replacing light switches\n, • Minor electrical repairs in line with regulations\n \n, • Perform carpentry and joinery tasks, including:\n \n, • Hanging doors\n, • Fitting architraves and skirting\n, • Installing laminate flooring\n, • General lock repairs and replacements\n \n, • Complete painting and decorating works as required.\n, • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.\n, • Liaise with site management regarding materials and project requirements.\n, • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.\n\n Candidate Requirements \n\n • Proven experience as a Multi-Trade Operative.\n, • Strong skills across carpentry, plumbing, decorating and basic electrical works.\n, • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.\n, • Own van and tools preferred.\n, • Full UK Driving Licence.\n, • Good communication and problem-solving skills.\n, • Experience working within social housing, voids or property refurbishment environments is desirable.\n\n Materials & Expenses \n\n • Materials will be supplied via company accounts with major suppliers including Howdens, Screwfix and other merchants.\n, • Travel/mileage contributions may be discussed depending on project location and requirements.\n, • Contractors will not be expected to purchase materials using their own funds.\n\n Interview Process \n\n • Initial telephone interview.\n, • Follow-up site meeting with the Operations Team.\n\n What's on Offer \n\n • Long-term contract opportunity.\n, • Consistent workload with potential ongoing assignments across London.\n, • Opportunity to work with an established FM and Building Services contractor.\n, • Immediate start available for suitable candidates.\n\n Rate: Competitive day rate (DOE and experience). \n Applicants must have relevant trade experience and be able to demonstrate a strong all-round maintenance and refurbishment skillset. DBS maybe be checked so any convictions must be disclosed on registration and own van is required. this is a self-employed role so you will be paid through an umbrella on a day rate. \n \n \n \n
