Ecologist (Progression to Senior within 6 Months) Location: Perth, Scotland (Hybrid Working) Reporting to: Ecology Business Manager Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 DOE About The Company (25+ headcount) A friendly, close-knit team passionate about delivering sustainable, practical solutions for development. The Role They’re looking for an experienced Ecologist who’s ready to take the next step toward becoming a Senior. You’ll work on a wide range of ecological projects across the UK, collaborating with in-house teams and external partners. Most importantly, they’ll support your development through a structured training programme designed to help you progress to Senior Ecologist within 6 months (or similar agreed timescale). This plan is agreed with your line manager within your first 3 months and includes clear, achievable milestones. What You’ll Be Doing • Supporting and leading ecological surveys and assessments, • Contributing to Ecological Impact Assessments (EIA), HRAs, and BNG strategies, • Preparing high-quality reports and mitigation plans, • Working closely with clients, regulators, and internal teams, • Mentoring junior staff and contributing to team development, • Participating in bid writing and fee proposals as your confidence grows, • Working across protected species, habitats - no licences required although preferred What We’re Looking For: • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field, • CIEEM membership (or working toward it), • Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation and planning policy, • Excellent report writing and data interpretation skills, • Organised, proactive, and confident communicator, • Full UK driving licence Desirable: • Experience in consultancy or client-facing roles, • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., WorkflowMax), • CSCS or EMSS card What Is On Offer • £30,000 – £40,000 salary (depending on experience), • Structured promotion pathway to Senior Ecologist within 6 months (or agreed timescale), • 20 CPD days annually, • 25 days annual leave + 9 Scottish bank holidays (increasing with service), • Flexible TOIL/balancing hours policy, • Paid professional memberships, • Supportive, inclusive team culture with real progression opportunities Interested?
