To help bring this vision to life, and as the result of promotion for the previous postholder, we are now recruiting to the Diocesan Youth Officer role within our Diocesan Education team. The Diocesan Youth Officer will be an important part of the newly established Equip Project team. They will support youth work across the diocese to double the number of young active disciples and ensure there is a thriving CYP ministry within reach of every young person. The post holder will support churches and schools to strengthen youth ministry across the diocese. They will help deliver core elements of the Equip programme, including Spotlight events, Hubs, Bespoke training, Connect sessions, clergy development and youth-focused resources. The post holder will provide practical guidance, training and materials for parishes, volunteers, clergy and school staff, while sharing good practice and staying informed of national resources. They will work closely with colleagues in Children’s and Early Years ministry, the Equip Trainers and the Developing Young Leaders Lead. The post holder will also contribute to the development of young leaders and support secondary school discipleship activities. The post holder will have at least five years’ experience in youth ministry within a church or diocesan setting. They will be experienced in writing and delivering training and will understand current youth work trends and the issues affecting young people. The post holder will have knowledge of Church of England structures and will be able to communicate clearly and work confidently with clergy, volunteers and other professionals. They will be able to manage their own workload, work collaboratively and use digital tools such as social media and Microsoft Office with confidence. About Equip Equip is the diocesan development and training programme for those working with children and young people. It offers a wide range of training events, hubs, online support, clergy development and leadership pathways. The Youth Officer will play a key role in shaping and delivering this programme so that leaders feel supported, confident and well resourced.
