About your team: Centrica Power is at the forefront of the UK and Irish energy transition. Our portfolio spans flexible and conventional generation, renewable energy, energy storage and nuclear. With over £2bn of gross capital deployed, over 600MW in operation and a further 500MW in construction, still we continue with our ambitious growth plans in place, we're building a Power business that will play a major role in the UK's low carbon future. We're involved in some of the most exciting projects in the sector - from our 20% stake in the current UK nuclear fleet, to our 15% investment in the development of Sizewell C, to leading the UK's first advanced modular reactor programme with X Energy and renewables portfolio. And that's just the start. Over the next five years, we're accelerating investment as part of Centrica's green growth strategy. This is your opportunity to help shape a business of major strategic significance to Centrica and to the UK's energy mix. About your role: To support Centrica Power's growth ambitions, we are seeking an Asset Optimisation Analyst to enhance the commercial performance of our operating asset portfolio. Working within the Commercial Operations team, you will support the Senior Commercial Manager by delivering robust analysis and commercial insight that shapes trading strategy and maximises revenue across our CCGT, battery, peaker and solar assets. You will develop and maintain asset value models, analyse forecast vs. actual performance, and identify the key drivers and risks influencing portfolio returns. Location: We work flexibly in line with our Flexible First working arrangements believing that empowered colleagues are happier and more productive. There will, however, be a requirement to attend meetings across our Windsor, Reading and London offices. Responsibilities of the role: Develop, maintain and refine transparent asset value models across CCGTs, batteries, peakers and solar assets. Run backcast models to determine optimal dispatch and feed insights into trading strategies, including data gathering, optimisation logic and output visualisation. Produce high-quality forecast vs. actual performance analysis using consistent breakdowns (prices, volumes, availability, constraints, cycling, fees/charges) and translate findings into commercial actions. Work closely with Operations and Asset Management to ensure models reflect real-world operating behaviour, maintenance cycles and technical constraints. Source and interpret external market and industry data (competitor activity, market pipeline, ESO/Elexon signals) and convert insights into implications for asset performance and commercial strategy. Apply rigorous data quality checks across telemetry/SCADA, metering/settlement data, trading outputs and Finance reporting. Support decision-ready packs for investment cases, optimisation opportunities and operational strategy. Drive continuous improvement through template development, automation and analytical tooling using SQL and Python. Build strong relationships with Operations, Finance and other internal teams to ensure insights are understood, trusted and acted upon. Identify data requirements and develop analytical tools to support performance and optimisation decisions. Here's what we're looking for: Degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science or another numerate discipline. Professional qualifications or certifications in energy markets, analytics or related fields are desirable. Experience in commercial analytics, optimisation support, performance analysis, revenue assurance or valuation within the power or energy sector. Strong ability to analyse time-series operational and commercial data and communicate insights clearly to non-specialists. Strong data analytics skills, including experience with SQL, Python, Power BI or similar tools. Ability to build practical asset value models and scenario-based sensitivities, with clear articulation of assumptions and limitations. Understanding of how different asset types earn value and the operational drivers that influence commercial outcomes. Experience sourcing and interpreting external market data (Elexon, NG ESO, ENTSO-E, SCADA/PI) and converting insights into recommended actions. Strong stakeholder management skills, able to work effectively with Trading, Operations and Finance to translate analysis into decisions. Demonstrated analytical curiosity, exploring data beyond the obvious, questioning assumptions and uncovering hidden value or risks. Skilled in commercial storytelling, synthesising complex operational and market drivers into concise, compelling narratives for diverse audiences. TPBN1_UKTJ
