LWM Planning is growing, and are looking for an experienced Managing Consultant with Major Projects Planning experience to join our award winning team. Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a commercially driven, sales-focused senior consultancy role for an ambitious Planning professional who wants to win work, grow a consultancy, and reap the rewards of commercial success. This role suits someone energised by sales, unfased by targets, and motivated by building something bigger than themselves. As a Managing Consultant you will play a central role in selling, growing and leading our Planning consultancy, building on its award-winning, accredited reputation and positioning it as a market-leading service across public-sector consultancy, PPAs, and developer agency work. Key Responsibilities • Take a lead role in selling the Planning consultancy to public-sector and developer clients., • Actively identify, pursue, and convert new opportunities., • Build and maintain a strong personal pipeline of opportunities, converting relationships into fee income., • Contribute towards longer-term growth ambitions of £1m–£1.5m+ annual Planning revenue., • Work closely with senior leadership to align growth, sales strategy, and market positioning., • Play a key role in building and scaling the Planning team as revenue grows., • Provide senior oversight of planning projects rather than routine delivery., • Review, challenge, and sign off reports, submissions, and professional advice., • Hold responsibility for client-side P&L, ensuring strong margins and commercial discipline., • Set, manage, and negotiate fees confidently., • Oversee and grow strategic accounts, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities., • Lead major planning applications from PPA through submission, committee, and determination. Skills & Experience • Chartered Planner (MRTPI or equivalent)., • Significant experience at Senior / Principal / Managing Consultant or Associate Director level., • Experience in both local authority planning and developer-led agency work., • Proven experience delivering major applications, PPAs, and committee presentations., • Demonstrable sales and commercial capability.
