We have been awarded a multi-year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications) systems works. This includes producing lift plans, conducting site assessments, and ensuring compliance with LOLER, BS 7121, HS2 protocols, and project-specific lifting procedures. The AP will also act as Lifting Supervisor when required and must hold valid tickets for both roles. The successful candidate will lead the lifting team, oversee complex lifts, and ensure safe delivery of lifting operations within tight site constraints and a high-risk rail environment. This role is critical to maintaining safety, optimising lifting efficiency, preventing delays, and ensuring all lifting activities meet the highest operational and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities: Lift Planning & Design Produce detailed lift plans, risk assessments, and method statements for all lifting operations. Select appropriate cranes, lifting accessories, lifting configurations, and exclusion zones. Ensure compliance with LOLER, PUWER, CDM 2015, HS2 lifting standards, and site-specific rules. Lifting Supervision & Execution Act as Lifting Supervisor where required, overseeing day-to-day lifting activities. Brief all personnel involved in lifting operations and ensure adherence to safe systems of work. Manage complex or critical lifts (confined area lifts, heavy/oversized loads). Team Coordination & Leadership Coordinate Crane Operators, Slinger/Signallers, Banksmen, and lifting teams. Ensure lifting personnel are competent, briefed, and working to the correct procedures. Maintain high levels of communication between site teams and subcontractors. Equipment & Plant Coordination Ensure cranes, lifting accessories, telehandlers, forklifts, MEWPs, and ancillary plant are certified, inspected, and fit for use. Verify certification (Thorough Examinations, LOLER inspections, Safe Working Loads). Site Assessments & Safety Compliance Conduct site surveys to identify hazards, ground bearing pressures, crane positioning, and obstructions. Establish safe exclusion zones and maintain control of lifting areas at all times. Perform toolbox talks, lifting briefings, and competency checks. Reporting & Documentation Maintain lifting registers, inspection records, and lifting equipment logs. Report non-conformances, near misses, and incidents in line with HS2 requirements. Provide regular updates to the Logistics Manager and Construction Management teams. Problem Solving & Technical Support Provide expert lifting advice to site teams and subcontractors. Resolve constraints related to access, confined working areas, and heavy plant movements. Multi-Skilled Support (Advantageous) Additional plant tickets (e.g., Telehandler, Forklift, MEWP, Slinger/Signaller) are beneficial for operational flexibility.
