The Opportunity: Our Leeds site is one of the strongest performers in the region, with a large and loyal customer base, an active contracts department, and room to grow even further. Were looking for a Sales Manager who can take ownership of this momentum and push it to the next level. Youll lead a team across the trade counter, shaping how we serve customers, respond to enquiries, and win business. The scale of the site means youll be dealing with a mix of high-volume day-to-day trade activity and more complex contract-based work. Its a role for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a busy environment, and wants the space to influence how a large merchant site runs commercially. This is your chance to build a high-performing internal sales operation, strengthen relationships with key customers, and put your stamp on a site where strong leadership and commercial drive genuinely move the needle. What Youll Be Doing Team Leadership - Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Sales staff. - Set clear expectations around service, responsiveness, and commercial decision-making. - Support the team with product knowledge, pricing guidance, and customer handling. Sales & Account Growth - Proactively develop revenue across existing accounts, including re-engaging underperforming customers. - Identify, target, and convert new business opportunities in the local trade market. - Work closely with key customers to understand their needs and offer tailored support. - Deliver quotes, negotiate pricing, and oversee major enquiries coming through the site. - Represent the site at customer visits, site meetings, and relevant industry events. Commercial Focus - Collaborate with the Profit Centre Manager to shape local sales strategy. - Monitor performance, margins, and customer activity to identify growth opportunities. - Ensure the sales function runs efficiently, with strong communication between counter and contracts staff. What Were Looking For - Experience in plumbing & heating or builders merchant sales. - Proven background in account management, B2B sales, or internal sales leadership. - Strong commercial judgement with confidence in pricing, negotiation, and decision-making. - Leadership qualities that inspire high standards and positive team culture. - Someone who enjoys being customer-facing and hands-on. - Full UK driving licence (customer visits are part of the job).
