Principal Electrical Engineer Warwick, UK | £70,000 | Permanent | New Role The Opportunity A globally operating manufacturer of precision engineered components is seeking an exceptional Principal Electrical Engineer to join their Warwick facility. This is a newly created, high-impact role leading the development of next-generation instrumentation products for the world's most demanding heavy vehicle and off-road environments. This is a role for a true technical expert, someone who can own the full electronics architecture from physics through production, lead a team of development engineers, and drive innovation deployed globally across construction, agriculture, mining, and commercial vehicles. Key Responsibilities • Lead and manage a team of development engineers across new product programs and customer adaptation projects, • Architect and develop next-generation instrumentation products for harsh, heavy-vehicle environments, • Own end-to-end product design: electronics architecture, signal conditioning, embedded signal processing, validation, and production launch, • Set the technical direction for advanced measurement technologies as the organisation's subject-matter authority, • Lead innovation in signal processing and system robustness; resolve complex, first-principles technical challenges, • Operate within automotive-grade development systems including APQP, DFMEA/PFMEA, and DV/PV validation, • Collaborate with global OEMs and partners on system integration and field validation, • 10+ years of instrumentation or embedded electronics development experience, • 10+ years in the automotive or heavy vehicle industry, • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (advanced degree preferred), • Proven track record bringing commercial engineered products from concept through production, • Deep expertise in analog and mixed-signal circuit design, • Experience with one or more measurement or detection technologies using radar, capacitive, or ultrasonic principles, • Demonstrated ability to design for harsh environments: extreme temperatures, vibration, industrial exposure, • Familiarity with automotive quality processes: APQP, DFMEA/PFMEA, IATF 16949, • Hands-on PCB assembly and troubleshooting skills, • Experience in heavy vehicle, construction, or agricultural equipment markets, • Embedded firmware (C/C++) and automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN) — desirable, • £70,000 per annum, • 25 days holiday annually, • Company pension scheme, • Life assurance, • Casual, energetic workplace Send your CV and a brief note on your instrumentation and electronics development background.
