Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Control System Developer Vehicle Supervisory Controller to be based at our customers site in Gaydon . Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions. The Role: We are looking for a passionate and technically skilled Control System Developer to join our advanced electrified vehicle (xHEV) team. This role focuses on the development and integration of control strategies within the Vehicle Supervisory Controller (VSC) , enabling optimal performance across thermal systems, energy management, torque coordination , and driver-selectable modes . You will play a key role in shaping the behavior of hybrid and electric vehicles, ensuring seamless coordination between subsystems, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional driving experience. Area of Responsibility Control Strategy Development Design and implement control algorithms for xHEV systems including: Thermal Management : coolant flow, HVAC coordination, battery thermal control Energy Management : SOC control, regenerative braking, charge/discharge strategies Torque Coordination : blending between ICE, electric motor, and transmission Driver Modes : Eco, Sport, EV-only, and adaptive drive profiles Develop models and simulations using MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, and embedded C Ensure real-time performance, robustness, and fault tolerance of control logic System Integration & Calibration Collaborate with hardware, software, and calibration teams to integrate control functions into the VSC Support calibration of control parameters to meet performance, efficiency, and drivability targets Conduct system-level validation in MIL, SIL, HIL, and vehicle environments Testing & Validation Plan and execute test cases for control functions across various drive cycles and environmental conditions Analyze vehicle data logs, debug issues, and refine control strategies based on test feedback Use tools such as CANape, INCA, CANalyzer, and ETAS for diagnostics and validation Documentation & Compliance Maintain documentation for control requirements, design specifications, and validation reports Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 26262, UNECE R85, R101) Support technical reviews and cross-functional design assessments Knowledge / Experience Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field Good experience in control system development for hybrid or electric vehicles Strong proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, and embedded software development Solid understanding of hybrid architectures (HEV, PHEV, MHEV) and vehicle control systems Experience with vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay) and diagnostic tools Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with VSC architecture and multi-domain control coordination Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS), thermal modeling, and energy optimization techniques Exposure to AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, and model-based development workflows Hands-on experience with vehicle testing, calibration, and data analysis Knowledge of AI/ML techniques for predictive energy or thermal control (a plus) In return for bringing your expertise to our business we offer a competitive salary along with excellent benefits including: Pension Scheme We match employee contribution up to 5% of salary 25 Days Holiday Private Health Care Tata Jaguar Land Rover Privilege Scheme - up to 20% off new JLR vehicles Group Income Protection Health Assured Employee Assistance Program Group Life Assurance Health Shield Private Health Cash Plan If you are passionate about bringing innovation to the projects you work on and want to join a global company, then this is the place for you.
