SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support, Ongoing Role in Warwickshire Some roles ask you to fill a gap. This one asks you to be a constant. A mainstream primary school in Warwickshire is looking for a skilled, steady SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with high-level needs. This is an ongoing, full-time position starting as soon as possible, and it matters that the right person is in place from day one. The pupil can present with behaviours that challenge, including aggression at times. That's not buried in the small print. It's part of the role, and it's why the school needs someone who won't be rattled by a hard morning and who understands that building trust with a child like this takes time, consistency, and a calm presence every single day. What you'll be doing: • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil throughout the school day, • Building a secure, stable relationship that helps the pupil feel safe and ready to engage, • Supporting the pupil's access to learning within the Year 1 classroom environment, • Following agreed strategies and behaviour support plans consistently, • Communicating regularly with the SENCO and classroom teacher as part of a joined-up team, • Taking on additional classroom support duties in the afternoons if the pupil's timetable is part-time, • Escalating concerns appropriately, with the SENCO and Head Teacher available for support What we're looking for: • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally in a 1:1 or SEN-focused role, • Confidence working with pupils who present with challenging or aggressive behaviours, • A calm, grounded approach that doesn't escalate and doesn't take things personally, • Experience in a PRU, alternative provision, or SEMH setting is a genuine advantage, • Training in behaviour management such as Team Teach or Makaton is welcome but not essential, • Reliability, warmth, and the kind of consistency a child can genuinely depend on, • An Enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one What's on offer: • Ongoing full-time role, Monday to Friday - part-time, mornings only would also be considered., • Day-to-day support from the school's SENCO, • Clear escalation routes through to the Head Teacher, • A school that wants you to feel prepared before you start Why Sprint? If you're looking to work as a teacher in a mainstream classroom, providing day-to-day supply cover, we're probably not the agency for you. But if you're passionate about supporting students with additional needs and want a long-term role where you can build consistency and see the impact of your work every day, that's exactly what we do.
