Job Title: Principal\nSystems Engineer – Software/Simulation \n Location: Portsmouth – Broad\nOak – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements\n– please speak to your\nrecruiter about the options for this particular role \n Salary: Up to £75,900\n(dependent on skills and experience) \n What you’ll be\ndoing: • Provide\nhands-on technical\nleadership with a team\nof systems and software engineers, and directly support the product\nSystem Design Authority, • Apply the principles of Systems\nEngineering to develop software-based Simulation Systems across the\nfull engineering lifecycle, • Undertake\nSimulation Systems equipment design, network design and software\ndesign, • Lead requirement decomposition\nand manage\nspecifications using tools like IBM DOORS Next\n, • Direct architectural modelling and interface definitions\nin tools such as CATIA Magic (Cameo), • Drive\nsystem integration and define acceptance strategies for\nsoftware-based systems, • Demonstrable experience of the application of Systems\nEngineering for software-based products\n, • Expertise in\nSystems Engineering and Software integration lifecycle principles (ISO 15288 and\n12207), • Strong background in\nrequirements management\n(e.g., IBM DOORS Next – desirable), • Familiarity\nwith engineering lifecycle models (Waterfall & Agile) and tools\n(e.g. JIRA), • Background in software development\nand integration MIMESIS Product\nteam: You will join our\nSimulation and Training sector at Broad Oak Works Portsmouth, part\nof BAE Systems Maritime and Land Defence Solutions, working on our\nMIMESIS product. MIMESIS provides a battlespace\nsimulation of the maritime world; from terrain and seabed, to\nweather and underwater acoustics, accurately modelling the movement\nand behaviour of ships, submarines and other platforms, and\ndigitally replicating their unique capabilities (sonars, radars,\nweapons). As a System Technical Lead within the MIMESIS team,\nyou will have technical responsibility for the design and\ndevelopment of new modules/content for the product, reviewing and\napproving lower level documentation. You will also provide\ntechnical guidance to the engineering team, working closely with\nSystem Design Authority, to develop and support MIMESIS for our\ncustomers. This is a unique opportunity to join\na growing team of approximately 30 systems and software engineers,\nworking to shape the next generation of maritime simulation through\nthe adoption of new user interface capabilities such as AR/XR and\nleveraging the capabilities of emerging technologies such as\nAI.
