Our Alternative Provision (AP) in Burnley is seeking a visionary Forest School Teacher to lead our outdoor learning program. We work with young people who find the traditional classroom challenging. In this role, you won't just be teaching; you'll be building confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation through bushcraft, fire lighting, tool use, and environmental art in the local Burnley woodlands. Key Responsibilities * Outdoor Curriculum: Design and deliver a "Forest School" program tailored to students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs. * Alternative Provision (AP) Support: Use nature-based therapy to re-engage learners with education. * Safety & Risk Management: Conduct dynamic risk assessments for outdoor activities, ensuring a safe yet adventurous environment. * Burnley Community Impact: Utilise local green spaces to foster a sense of belonging and environmental stewardship. What We Are Looking For We welcome applications from Qualified Teachers (QTS), Forest School Level 3 Practitioners, or Unqualified Teachers with significant outdoor education experience. * Passion for AP: A genuine desire to work with "hard to reach" young people in an Alternative Provision setting. * Outdoor Skills: Experience in bushcraft, woodworking, or conservation. * Resilience: The ability to work outdoors in all Lancashire weathers (rain or shine!) and manage challenging behaviour with empathy. * Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the Burnley area and its natural landscape.
