Job Summary The Fixture Database is a subscription service and supplies data for lighting fixtures as a library for use by Lighting Consoles and controllers. Our data is used across the globe in Theatre, Concert Touring, Film & Television and Architectural installations and our clients include ETC, Ma Lighting and Pharos Architectural Controls. The Fixture Library Support Technician will work as a member of the Fixture Database Support team, under the direction of the Database Manager, liaising with clients to fulfil support requirements in a timely manner and assisting the development team to maintain and develop the fixture library. The role is hybrid (4 days in office, 1 remote) with office days based at our head offices in West London. The role is based on 37.5-hour week (if working full-time) based around our core office hours which are 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Key Responsibilities • Accurate interpretation of manufacturer technical documentation to write personality files which confirm to database schemas, • Correcting fixture definitions as errors are reported or as the data model is updated, • Undertaking code review for colleagues to ensure that the quality of work is consistent and conforms to our internal standards documentation, • Undertaking real-world testing of lighting fixtures with internal test applications and third-party lighting controllers to ensure correct operation, • Triaging and logging of requests made to the service through our ticket management service, including raising any queries with the relevant manufacturers to resolve, • Working closely with the wider team of Carallon developers to provide QA for internal tools including, but not limited to, application testing and development of test cases Essential Qualifications • You will be proactive be prepared to respond quickly and efficiently to requests and have a customer focused attitude, • You will possess solid analytical skills and the ability to think about data in terms of a model, and be able to break down complex structures into simpler components, • You will be detail-oriented and adopt a methodical approach to tasks, • You will be a self-starter and able to work independently under the guidance of a manager, and as part of a team to meet deadlines, • You will have a core understanding of Extensible Markup Language (xml) and its application., • You must have written and spoken English to a minimum CEFR level B2 Desirable Extras • Entertainment lighting industry relevant experience, some basic lighting console or lighting controller programming and or operating experience is useful, • Experience using common software development tools e.g., text editors, command line interfaces, version control systems. GitHub experience an advantage, • Experience with scripting languages or common mark-up languages, • Prior experience working in a technical support role
