We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated Assistant Psychologist to gain experience in two very different patient groups and services. Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital is a 47‑bed hospital comprising of four wards that provide acute, PICU and rehabilitation services for men in the West Midlands. It has a full multi‑disciplinary team and supports the acute needs of adults requiring rapid access to mental health services, including those who may need an intensive care environment. We’re focused on length of stay and making sure individuals move as quickly and safely as possible from our services to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment for them. Cygnet Meadows Mews is a 10‑bed community service for men who have a traumatic, acquired or degenerative brain injury, who have stepped down from inpatient neurorehabilitation. Patients are likely to have related complex difficulties including associated mental health problems, a history of behaviours that challenge, substance abuse difficulties and forensic histories. The goal of a placement at Meadows Mews is to transfer skills and support strategies developed in an inpatient setting into a community placement, and to increase access and engagement in community activities. We are seeking academically strong candidates to support and enhance the psychological care of patients at the service by assisting the Head of Psychology with: • Psychological assessment including psychometric administration, • Risk assessment, safety formulation and management, • Clinical formulation and implementing care plans for psychological care and treatment, • Working with colleagues to provide integrated, whole‑person treatment and care, • Planning, delivering and evaluating individual/group programmes Clinical supervision will be provided as an important part of personal and professional development.
