Job Summary In a newly refreshed role, were looking for an outstanding individual, someone that will bring robust experience in aligned fields, is used to working in a challenging but rewarding environment, enjoys leadership and is genuinely driven by the cause of St John. We have huge ambition at St John to increase our income, reach and impact and as lead Director, you will hold overall responsibility and accountability for the Healthcare Operations Directorate encompassing Event Healthcare, Ambulance Operations and Community Healthcare delivery. You will drive the commercial ambition of your portfolio, shaping strategy, setting direction, and delivering against stretching targets. You’ll work closely with volunteer leaders across the organisation, forging strong partnerships that strengthen our impact and help us build new community centred healthcare provision. You will take the lead on our engagement with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and key external partners, regulators, stakeholders and commissioners, including Event Customers, ICBs, Trusts and the wider NHS. Central to the role is championing innovative, high quality, patient centred services that are reliable, financially viable, effective and continuously improving. You will provide visible, motivational leadership across your directorate, embedding our HEART values and positioning our services as an employer of choice beyond the NHS. Alongside fellow leaders, you will share collective responsibility for delivering the charity’s strategic objectives, while confidently managing a significant P&L of approximately £20m+. About You You will be degree‑educated (with a relevant master’s desirable), ideally hold a clinical qualification such as Registered Paramedic. You’ll bring substantial senior leadership experience in large, complex organisations, with a strong track record in delivering ambulance or health service strategies, leading in CQC‑regulated environments, and managing a commercial operation of £20m+ with full P&L accountability. You’ll have experience shaping effective policies and processes, leading large staff and volunteer teams, and delivering complex change programmes. Exceptional interpersonal, influencing and people‑centred leadership skills, underpinned by emotional intelligence and collaboration, are essential. Surveyor - Buildings Insurance Claims Job description Who are we? At TBRN our expertise lies in property claims management, with quality building repairs via our contractor network at the heart of what we do. We support a range of businesses including Insurers, Managing General Agents, Loss Adjusters, Solicitors, Third Party Administrators and Self-Insured entities in managing the entire process of a property claim. Our skilled workforce is made up of surveyors, engineers and claims handlers who efficiently and effectively determine the most appropriate settlement route, proactively manage the lifecycle of the claim along with the claim cost, manage customer expectations and ensure brand protection for our clients. The Opportunity The main purpose of the role is to provide technical assistance with a mix of household and commercial insurance and third party property damage claims. We operate a claim ownership model, with the surveying/technical team working closely with our claims concierge team for efficient handling and a high standard of customer experience. The role will be desk based for the main but geographical location may offer up potential for field based surveying where experience and operational need permits. Our offices are located at Moreton, Wirral, however applicants are invited nationwide as we are flexible around office working, home working, or a hybrid of the two. What your day may look like? Triage of new claims allocated to determine and advise our claims concierge team of the optimum route to settlement, which commonly include recommending a surveyor visit (employed or surveying partner network), appointment of a network contractor (specialist or generic) or cash settlement negotiations Consider the client philosophy and delegated authority status to determine the appropriate journey of the claim Prepare reports with recommendations to clients by reviewing the property damage via images, video footage, customer provided quotes and other available tools Review site reports and schedules provided by the surveyor attending site, considering policy cover and liability where applicable to make decisions or recommendations on the next steps Review schedules of work provided by our network contractors, querying content/cost where necessary and arranging authorisation Review any variations to cost during the repair phase, keeping works moving and eliminating delay where possible Prepare reports/updates to clients, making key claim decisions and recommendations Negotiate cash settlements Liaise with the various parties involved in the claim offering technical input Control costs for clients whilst ensuring fair outcomes for their customers Reconciling costs and ensuring the financial aspects of the claim are correctly reported Desk based auditing of contractor performance against key criteria The role is entirely technical, our Claims Concierge team with deal with the overall handling and customer service aspects of the process. With our client base having variety, so too do the claims we receive, leading to challenges and opportunity to learn new skillsets in the insurance and negotiation sectors. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for conversing with the various parties involved in the claims. Key Requirements: Experience of property repair works and their costs is an essential element, as is an appetite to adapt and learn. Surveying, buildings and/or insurance qualifications would be an advantage, as would site experience. I.T. Literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel.
