Logistics Operations Manager | Near Thetford, Norfolk | Full Time | Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm | £45,000 – £50,000 per annum Our client has an extensive network of over 40 offices and depots across the UK, Ireland, and mainland Europe, standing as a forefront market leader in the manufacturing, supply, and installation of various temporary solutions such as fencing, hoarding, barriers, traffic management, ground protection, and builders' plant. The Role We are seeking an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to oversee transport, logistics activities, and global depot operations. The role is responsible for ensuring efficient planning, cost-effective routing, compliance, fleet utilisation, and smooth day-to-day operations, including de-vanning, backloading, and depot planning. You will lead the transport team, optimise operational performance, and ensure high standards of safety, service, and efficiency. A Transport Manager International CPC is required. Key responsibilities: Transport Operations & Planning Plan and manage daily transport operations, ensuring efficient routing, optimal scheduling, and timely deliveries Oversee de-vanning, backloading, and utilisation of fleet capacity, including work outside normal hours where required Build and develop customer backhaul opportunities across UK and European routes Ensure delivery plans align with budget, service levels, and operational targets Team Leadership Lead, motivate, and develop drivers, planners, and operatives Oversee recruitment, training, performance, and driver debrief processes Maintain clear communication across transport, warehouse, and customer teams Compliance & Safety Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, including driver hours, vehicle standards, and GDPR Manage driver and vehicle compliance, conducting regular audits and safety checks Implement and maintain robust health & safety procedures Fleet & Cost Management Oversee fleet maintenance, fuel management, and vehicle condition standards Maximise vehicle utilisation through effective planning, continuous improvement, and cost-saving initiatives Manage subcontractor performance, costs, KPIs, and service levels Manage stock levels Customer Service & Reporting Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers Resolve service issues promptly and ensure high customer satisfaction Produce operational reports, KPI analysis, and budget updates (weekly/monthly) Systems & Innovation Lead the use of transport management systems (TMS), telematics, and IT tools to improve planning accuracy Identify and implement improvements through data, technology, and industry best practices Requirements Essential Minimum 3 years’ experience in transport/logistics management, including supervisory responsibility Strong knowledge of transport legislation, driver hours, working time regulations, and road transport compliance Proficient in transport management software and Microsoft Office Strong leadership, planning, and analytical skills They must hold a valid Transport Managers CPC as they will be required to go on the operator's licence Hold a Valid FLT Licence or proof of prior training Hold a Driving licence Desirable Experience in the Hire industry would be advantageous What’s In It For You 32 days annual leave per annum including all statutory Bank Holidays Free parking On-site parking Company pension scheme What’s next?
