Year 6 Primary Teacher | SATs & Transition Specialist Location: Blackpool, Lancashire (Primary Academy) Salary: Paid to Scale (M1 - M6) | Highly Competitive Daily Rates Contract: Full-Time, Long-term Temporary (Maternity Cover) Duration: May 2026 - April 2027 Hours: Monday - Friday (32.5 Hours per week) The Opportunity: Lead the Final Sprint to SATs Success Are you a Year 6 specialist who thrives under pressure? Our partner Blackpool Academy is seeking a dynamic, results-driven teacher to step into a Year 6 classroom at the most critical point of the year. Starting three weeks prior to the Key Stage 2 SATs, you will lead the "final sprint," providing the stability and academic rigor needed to ensure every pupil reaches their full potential. The Role & Timeline This maternity cover is unique in its structure, requiring a teacher who can pivot between intensive intervention and holistic primary teaching. Phase 1: The SATs Lead-Up (May 2026) Booster Sessions: Delivering high-impact, targeted booster sessions in English and Maths during your first three weeks. Gap-Plugging: Rapidly identifying and addressing remaining knowledge gaps to build pupil confidence. Examination Prep: Leading mock runs and providing emotional support to pupils during the SATs week. Phase 2: Post-SATs & Curriculum Resumption (June 2026 - April 2027) Return to Breadth: Once the SATs window closes, you will resume a full, broad, and balanced curriculum. Transition Excellence: Preparing the Year 6 cohort for their move to Secondary school through project-based learning and emotional readiness. New Academic Year: In September, you will take over the new Year 6 cohort, setting the standards for the 2026/27 cycle. Key Responsibilities Full Teaching Cycle: Accountability for planning, high-quality delivery, and assessment. Data-Driven Success: Securing high attainment through formative and summative assessments. Inclusive Practice: Working alongside our famous pastoral team to support pupils with diverse needs. Reporting: Responsibility for end-of-term reports and parent-teacher consultations. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a teacher who can "hit the ground running" during the year's busiest period. Recent Year 6 Experience: A proven track record of producing measurable results in SATs. Subject Mastery: Expert knowledge of the KS2 National Curriculum.
