Typical duties performed by custodial staff during mall or store hours: Walks mall checking for spills or other hazards to customers, store employees, or mall personnel. Cleans wet or dry spills or calls for assistance in cleaning larger spills. Cleans mall common area furniture, mall entry doors, various types of glass. Scrapes and removes gum from floors and sidewalks. Cleans restroom accents and replenishes restroom supplies. Sorts food court tables and chairs. Cleans tables and chairs after each customer. Places trays in designated areas. In some locations, washes trays using commercial tray washing equipment or by hand in 3-compartment sinks. Empty common area trash receptacles into large wheeled carts and transports trash to designated trash compaction area. Loads and operates trash compaction machinery. Removes cardboard from service aisles using large wheeled carts and transports trash to designated trash compaction area. Loads and operates cardboard compaction machinery. May use cleaning chemicals, mops, buckets, rags, brooms, vacuums, manual or ride-on commercial floor scrubbing machines, electric and/or propane floor buffers, and other equipment to perform tasks. Performs other cleaning duties as assigned.
