American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Chandler, Arizona. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 11/24/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Position is in a Level 1 trauma Intensive Care Unit within an acute hospital, • Patient population includes surgical, trauma, neuro-surgical, cardiac, medical, and COVID/ARDS cases, • Units include Surgical ICU, Medical/Cardiac ICU, and a 12-bed overflow ICU with expected floating between all ICUs, • Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2 or 1:1, with charge nurses not taking assignments, • RNs will titrate various drips including vasoactive, sedation, analgesic, and insulin infusions, • RNs are required to interpret their own cardiac strips using GE monitors, • No monitor techs or nurse aides, except for sitters and Health Unit Secretaries, • EMR system in use is Cerner, • Respiratory Therapists are in ICU 24/7; commonly used equipment includes Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60s Bipap, and Airvo, • Schedule consists of 12-hour day shifts with self-scheduling; expected to work up to 3 weekends per month, • No additional call or standby requirements, though low census may occur up to 3 times per contract, • Floating may be required to telemetry with a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio or to a sister facility as needed, • Dress code requires navy scrubs, • Duties include caring for critically ill and trauma patients, titrating complex drips, and using advanced life support equipment, • Skill validation for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices will occur during orientation, • Must be able to float among three ICUs and to telemetry or a nearby sister facility as required, • Holiday coverage may be required with the possibility of one holiday off per assignment, • First-time travelers will be considered if they meet the experience requirements, • Expect a team environment with 24/7 intensivist and respiratory therapy support, • Sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes will be tested during initial orientation, with a maximum of two attempts allowed\n \n Requirements\n, • Active AZ or compact RN license in hand prior to consideration; no pending licenses accepted, • Minimum 3 years of recent ICU nursing experience, including either neuro or cardiovascular cases, • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required, • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance with a maximum of two attempts, • Must successfully complete a pass/fail simulation lab on Day 1 of orientation, • Must provide two professional references, including one supervisor from the past 12 months and another peer or supervisor from the past three years, • Must submit copy of driver's license for eligibility, • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, • Candidates must not have worked for any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in any capacity within the past year\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
