This is a specialized role for a provider who already understands protocol-driven care and wants hands-on involvement in evaluating emerging therapies while caring for patients with chronic hepatic and gastrointestinal conditions. Working three 12-hour shifts from Friday through Sunday, you will evaluate and manage both standard-of-care and clinical research patients — conducting consultations and pretreatment reviews, performing medical and safety assessments, and supporting patients through every stage of their trial participation. You will practice in a Sub-Investigator capacity, working closely with physicians, clinical research coordinators, recruiters, and other research professionals. Day to day that means knowing your assigned protocols cold, completing research visits, reviewing source documentation and informed consent records, and making sure every clinical decision lines up with patient safety and study requirements. This is a hands-on role with real patient and study ownership. You will follow your patients from initial evaluation through study completion and closeout, and your clinical judgment will directly shape both the care they receive and the quality of the data behind it. Why This Role Stands Out: • A true three-day workweek — Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, then four consecutive days off, • Monday through Thursday free every week, which makes room for family, a second commitment, teaching, or a genuinely compressed work life, • Direct involvement in Phase 1 clinical trials and emerging therapies, not just enrollment support, • Sub-Investigator responsibility with meaningful ownership of your own research patients, • Specialized exposure to hepatology, gastroenterology, and chronic hepatic disease, • A rare combination of autonomous clinical practice, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration What We’re Looking For: • An NP or PA with previous clinical research experience, • Strong command of research protocols and clinical trial processes, • Working knowledge of what serving as a Sub-Investigator actually requires, • The ability to manage clinically complex patients independently, • Close attention to research documentation, patient safety, and protocol compliance, • A resourceful problem-solver who collaborates well across clinical and research teams, • Genuine availability and preference for a Friday–Sunday schedule Job Duties & Responsibilities: • Perform patient evaluations, consultations, and pretreatment reviews for standard-of-care and clinical research patients., • Serve in a Sub-Investigator capacity and support the clinical execution of Phase 1 research protocols., • Oversee appropriate aspects of clinical trial patient care and perform medical and safety reviews., • Diagnose conditions and make appropriate treatment decisions within your established scope of practice., • Educate patients on therapeutic options available through applicable hepatology clinical trials., • Counsel patients and families and collaborate with physicians on appropriate direct-care interventions., • Serve as a primary clinical point of contact and take responsibility for managing assigned patients., • Partner with clinical research coordinators, recruiters, physicians, and other research personnel to complete study visits., • Review source documentation, clinical charting, informed consent records, and study documentation for accuracy and completeness., • Maintain a thorough understanding of assigned protocols and communicate study requirements to the research team., • Perform applicable in-clinic procedures, including FibroScan, when appropriately trained and qualified., • Support assigned patients and studies from initial evaluation through study completion and closeout.
