Salary Range: $21.64/hr with CDA, $24/hr with Associates, $25.10/hr with Bachelors, $26.08/hr with MastersShift: 1st shiftThe Infant-Toddler Teacher is responsible for a classroom of children 0-3 years of age. The Teacher will work collaboratively with their partner Teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom with a total of 6-8 children. The Teacher, along with families and colleagues, work to achieve meaningful progress of each child along their own unique developmental path and toward Early Head Start school readiness goals.Job Duties & Responsibilities:Implements a child-centered daily routine, curriculum and learning environment that encourages the development of age-appropriate positive social interactions, active exploration/ engagement in learning, and self-motivation (curiosity) to promote development in all domains for children of all abilities.Understands the development of self-regulation in infant-toddlers as well as age-appropriate expectations for prosocial behaviors. Creates a nurturing, responsive environment that promotes positive and development of social and emotional competencies.Observes closely and with understanding to determine possible causes of challenging behavior, implementing preventive measures, teaching children new social and communication skills in partnership with families. Uses observations of children and anecdotal notes to document children’s progress and individualize curriculum.Supervise all classroom field trips and outdoor activities.Understand regulations associated with prevention of disease and injury, including proper diapering procedures, and the exercise of universal precautions, and the prevention of contamination.Responsible for collaborating with a partner Teacher in the preparation of daily lesson plans. Post them for parents, volunteers and visitors in the classroom.Follow program curriculum providing ample opportunities for natural play and hands on experiences that reflect the learning styles of individual children in the group.Ensure classroom arrangement, materials and displays are organized and conducive to children’s learning and consistently meet expectations in the Education Department Standard Operating Procedures. Maintain a clean and safe environment that is conducive to keeping children and adults healthyMaintain an inclusive and welcoming environment for all children and families.Will assist in the development of individual plans for each child including goal setting based on identified needs and prescriptions for objectives and activities to meet established child outcomes.Planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the cognitive and physical development of children, including progress toward school readiness goals by developing their language (understanding and increasingly complex use, expanding vocabulary) emergent literacy, print and numeracy awareness, their appreciation of books and their problem-solving abilities.Complete developmental and social-emotional screenings on all children within prescribed time frames.Complete theme based Individualized Learning Plans to identify specific goals and implement developmentally appropriate strategies for each child in class.Integrate Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or referral action plans for children with diagnosed or suspected special needs.Implement positive behavior strategies and PBS practices and Program Wide ExpectationsComplete all reports associated with the children’s health and needs in a timely manner and communicate to the supervisor.Maintain required documentation of activities, including child and family information, assessment data, volunteer logs, etc. Establish positive and productive relationships with families through building rapport and trust. Schedule and complete two home visits and two parent-teacher conferences each year (workdays are 10am-7pm for these scheduled events). Encourage and engage family members to serve as classroom volunteers.Collaborate with family services staff to support families in implementing family life practices, extending learning into the home, and meeting expectations for attendance Follow all guidance and expectations to support the parent curriculumMaintain a positive rapport with families Participate in ongoing reflective coaching and self-assessment.Collaborate with the assistant teacher, substitutes and other staff in the center.Collaborate with family services staff to support families in implementing family life practices, extending learning into the home, and meeting expectations for attendance. Follow all guidance and expectations to support the parent curriculum.Performs all other duties assigned.Education & Experience Required:Minimum Infant/Toddler CDA -OR- Prefer Associate or Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, elementary education or related field. Will consider a candidate high school diploma with 3 years current center-based experience working with infants and toddlers. Candidate must if hired get infant toddler CDA within 6 months via FDS apprenticeship program. Must have a minimum of 1 year’s center-based experience working with infants and toddlers if they meet educational requirements when hired. Physical exams and background checks are required for this position.Travel required locally or long-distance, up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.Must be 21 years or older.Skills for Success:Knowledge of the health and safety licensing requirements for schools and/or childcare centers.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, in several forums.Ability to multitask, work independently, efficiently organize and communicate effectively with off-site supervisors.Demonstrated computer literacy skills, using MS Office applications, other programmatic software and other basic data systems including internet navigation.Must be honest, dependable and able to meet deadlines.Self-motivated and able to work independently.Physical Demands: Ability to understand and communicate proficiently verbally and in writing in English.Ability to exert a minimum of 50 lbs of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects unassisted.Ability to move quickly in the event of an emergency.Ability to sit most of the time with some bending and reaching.Ability to stand, walk, and bend periodically.Ability to engage in repetitive movement of wrists, hands, and fingers – typing and/or writing.Ability to work frequently at close visual range (i.e. preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading).Exposure to Work Hazards: loud noises, working closely and personally with the public to complete job tasks; exposure to various cleaning and sanitizing agents.Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.Follow Pro Talent Group on Indeed, ZipRecruiter, and LinkedIn for up-to-date job postings!
