OVERVIEW The Legal Billing Analyst is a full-time, in-person position responsible for the end-to-end accuracy and efficiency of the firm’s revenue cycle, which includes Billable Hour Management and Contingency & Settlement Processing. This role serves as a critical liaison between attorneys, legal assistants/paralegals, and the finance department to manage complex legal billing processes. While not a supervisory position, the Analyst takes ownership of the billing workflow, ensuring all client invoices strictly adhere to billing guidelines and deadlines. The ideal candidate blends a strong foundation in legal accounting principles with the organizational oversight needed to coordinate a high-volume, precise operation. Job Responsibilities GENERAL • Act as the primary liaison between attorneys, legal assistants/paralegals, and the finance department to resolve billing discrepancies and streamline communication., • Organize and maintain the daily billing workflow, including taking credit card payments and check deposits, • Perform regular audits of billing data to maintain a high level of precision and data integrity within the firm’s accounting software., • Monitor the firm’s revenue cycle, identifying opportunities to optimize billing efficiency and accelerate payment timelines., • Assist with the onboarding of new clients by setting up billing profiles and electronic billing (e-billing) requirements., • Address and resolve complex client billing inquiries or disputes in a professional and timely manner., • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for all financial records, billing correspondence, and paid invoices., • Stay current on legal billing software updates and industry best practices to improve internal operational efficiency., • Manage the end-to-end legal billing process, including the preparation, review, and distribution of accurate monthly pre-bills and final invoices, • Ensure all invoices strictly comply with specific client billing guidelines and outside counsel policies to minimize rejections., • Collaborate with attorneys to provide status updates on unbilled time and outstanding client accounts., • Calculate firm fees based on establish percentages of the final gross settlement or court judgment, • Track and reconcile advanced costs (filing fees, expert witness, medical records) to be reimbursed from the settlement proceeds, • Manage the transfer of funds from client trust accounts to firm operating accounts once a case is won or settled, • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is preferred, • 2-3 years minimum of hands-on legal billing experience in a law firm environment, handling both billable hour management and contingency & settlement processing, • An advanced understanding of legal accounting and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, • High proficiency in use of legal billing software (PerfectLaw a plus), • Must possess advanced Microsoft Office skills, • Capacity to handle high-volume monthly billing cycles The expected base salary is between $60,000 to $80,000. The range provided is the salary that our Firm believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including skills, experience and qualifications. This range is provided in accordance with applicable state pay transparency laws.
