The Spent Fuel Systems department in the Reactor Servicing organization plays a critical role in supporting the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program by delivering innovative solutions for reactor servicing operations at the Naval Reactors Facility in Idaho. The successful candidate will join a Pittsburgh, PA or Niskayuna, NY based team responsible for the design, analysis, safety, and integration of specialized servicing equipment and associated software systems. This includes developing first-of-a-kind engineering solutions to enable safe and efficient reactor servicing activities across multiple facilities. Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: • Designing and analyzing reactor servicing equipment to meet stringent technical and operational requirements., • Developing and validating software tools that support equipment operation and servicing procedures., • Performing safety analyses to ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards during servicing operations., • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software systems., • Supporting the development of reactor servicing procedures and providing technical consultation during implementation., • Applying engineering principles to solve complex problems in an innovative way while in a highly regulated environment., • The position offers the opportunity to work on unique, mission-critical projects that directly impact the safety and reliability of naval nuclear propulsion systems. Technical mentors, advisors, and lead engineers are assigned to support new engineers through on-the-job training. • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or, • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or, • Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field; or, • Currently an Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company., • Degrees in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Environmental Engineering are preferred, but not required., • Solid foundation in engineering design and analysis., • Strong problem-solving skills., • Detail-oriented., • Quick learner with continuous improvement mindset., • Interest in nuclear systems and service operations., • Skilled technical writer., • Experienced in engineering documentation and configuration management., • Collaborative team player in cross-functional environments., • Clear and effective communicator of technical concepts., • Proven leadership and project management abilities., • Strong time management and task prioritization skills., • Experience with engineering safety or industrial engineering., • Ability to collaborate virtually across sites and time zones., • Experience with software development and modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, CAD), • Health, Dental, Vision & Voluntary Benefits, • Disability, Life & Accident Insurance, • 401(k) Savings program & Capital Accumulation Plan, • Personal & Medical Time Off, • Paid Parental Leave, • Flexible Work Schedules, • Tuition Assistance for Eligible Employees, • Student Debt Benefit Personal Time Off Sell Program, • Employee Assistance Program (EAP), • Wellness Program All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
