Job Description Project Manager – Miscellaneous & Structural Steel Freedom Iron Works Location: 4150 Industrial Place, Island Park NY 11558 Job Type: Full-Time About Us Freedom Iron Works is a growing steel fabrication and erection company specializing in miscellaneous and small structural steel projects. Our work includes stairs, railings, balconies, embeds, ladders, canopies, and structural steel packages for commercial and industrial construction. We take pride in quality craftsmanship, clear communication, and delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee miscellaneous and small structural steel projects from award through close-out. This role is ideal for someone who understands steel fabrication and erection, can read and interpret drawings, and enjoys coordinating between clients, detailers, the shop, and the field. Responsibilities • Manage multiple miscellaneous and small structural steel projects simultaneously, • Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications, • Coordinate detailing, fabrication, and erection schedules, • Review and approve shop drawings and submittals, • Perform material takeoffs and assist with procurement, • Track budgets, change orders, and project costs, • Communicate with general contractors, owners, engineers, and architects, • Coordinate with shop and field crews to ensure project requirements are met, • Conduct site visits as needed to verify conditions and progress, • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget, • Handle project close-out documentation Qualifications • 5+ years of project management experience in miscellaneous and/or structural steel, • Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes, • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, • Proficiency in Bluebeam for drawing review and markups, • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (reviewing and coordinating drawings), • Strong organizational and time-management skills, • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, • Estimating or detailing background, • Familiarity with AISC standards, • Experience working directly with shop and field crews What We Offer • Competitive salary (based on experience), • Benefits package [health, PTO, etc. – customize as needed], • Stable workload with local projects, • Opportunity to grow with a respected steel contractor, • Supportive, team-oriented work environmentCompany DescriptionFreedom Iron Works, Inc. fabricates and installs miscellaneous and ornamental steel for commercial projects.
