Job DescriptionBenefits: • Opportunity for advancement, • Paid time off Responsibilities: As a Medical Assistant at our dermatology office, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities. We are currently seeking a motivated and compassionate medical assistant who has worked in a dermatological setting for 1-2 years and who has ModMed/ EMA EMR experience. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Patient Interaction: • Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in processes, • Schedule appointments, answer phone calls, and respond to inquiries with professionalism., • Obtain and update patient information accurately and efficiently Administrative Support: • Maintain organized and up-to-date patient records., • Assist with insurance verification and billing processes. Medical Assistance: • Assist dermatologists with in-office procedures as directed., • Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies., • Preparing instruments and equipment for procedures (such as sutures, sponges, gauze) by assembling, sterilizing and packaging them., • Disposing of hazardous waste such as needles and expired drugs according to policy guidelines., • Preparing and restocking exam rooms for the next patient., • Preparing various forms for insurance billing such as patient accounts, referral forms and pre-certification forms., • Handling medications such as counting, recording the number of doses given to patients or medical providers and explaining how to take medications., • Tracking medical providers schedules by updating written or electronic charts, checking lab results and responding to messages in email and voicemail., • Regularly keep equipment clean by wiping down surfaces that come into contact with patients, such as counters, bed rails, and chairs., • Advising patients on how to care for themselves based on their condition and testing results., • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment and medications., • Helping with clerical duties such as completing insurance forms, filing paperwork or typing letters., • Maintaining inventory of supplies in the exam room, stock area and office by checking supply levels according to inventory sheets., • Respecting patient diversity regarding culture, race, religion, age, gender, economic status, etc., • Remaining professional regarding all patient and professional interactions, either written or face-to-face., • Ensuring a high level of effective interaction with staff and patients to optimize workflow efficiency., • Completing other duties as assigned, for example, handling paperwork related to payment plans., • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other team members., • Relay important information to patients regarding prescribed medications and post-care instructions. Qualifications: • Required: Minimum of 1-2 years of dermatological experience in a derm setting, • Required: Experience with ModMed/ EMA EMR software, • Preferred: fluent in Bengali or Spanish, but not required., • Strong organizational and multitasking skills., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills., • Ability to work effectively as part of a team., • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities., • Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred but not required. Job Description This position is primarily responsible for maintaining front desk operations, serving as the first point of contact in reception for youth, families and adults accessing treatment and other supportive services, operating a multi-line telephone system directing callers to appropriate personnel and treatment/recovery departments, assuring proper direction and registering of participants as well as accepting payments for services rendered. The Receptionist II reports directly to the VP of HR & Technology. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Greets participants and all visitors, ascertaining purpose of visit and directing them accordingly., • Answers and screens incoming calls in a professional manner while providing assistance and obtaining accurate information., • Triages calls for clinic staff., • Provides callers and visitors with traveling directions and organizational information for accessing treatment options., • Monitors the waiting rooms to ensure the safety and progression of appointments is maintained., • Uses the electronic health record to check participants in., • Collects, records, tracks and monitors payments and provides receipts., • Manages MetroCard state reimbursement account for treatment participants., • Provides administrative and clerical support, including but not limited to, photocopying, faxing correspondence, creating letters to external sources, updating forms, stamping/mailing letters, ordering supplies and any other duties required by clinic, supervisory and executive staff., • Follows and adheres to state, local, federal and agency confidentiality policies and procedures protecting the confidentiality of participant protected health care information and ensures all transactions are conducted with respect and promotes the participant’s privacy., • Provides culturally competent services in accordance with Elmcor’s policies and procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bi-Lingual Spanish/English preferred.
