Job Description Operation Breakthrough is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, educational and loving environment for children in poverty and to empower their families through advocacy, emergency aid and education. JOB SUMMARY: The Media and Community Events Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to be the key point of contact between Operation Breakthrough and community partners in fundraising efforts. This involves working with external partners who present fundraising proposals, as well as identifying and developing new partnerships. This position is responsible for managing all social media platforms, creating timely posts that reflect the mission of the organization. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s Degree related to Communications and at least 2 years related experience in fundraising, marketing, and/or special event planning., • Strong creative writing and verbal communication skills as well as strong organizational skills., • Previous social media, blog, video, and graphic design experience (Adobe) highly preferred. KEY RESPONSIBILITES: • Event and Partnership Management: Act as the liaison between Operation Breakthrough and community partners, fostering relationships and collaborating on fundraising initiatives. Plan, organize, and manage various fundraising events and activities, ensuring successful execution and alignment with organizational goals. This also includes keeping accurate records of donations and net proceeds. Contact info and timelines., • Social Media Management: Manage and create timely posts on all social media platforms, to enhance the organization’s online presence to and collaboratively tell the story of Operation Breakthrough's families. Good photography skills and creative ideas a plus., • Website Assistance: Create a plan for b-monthly blog posts. Create pages for third party events on the website as well keeping our web community calendar up to date., • Communication and OB Network: Communicate effectively with all OB supporters as well as serve as the liaison for The OB Network, a monthly donation support group, including growing membership. Also, coordinate press coverage for Operation Breakthrough., • Become proficient in OB’s website especially in updating all Community Event pages, as well as backup for Director of Marketing and Events website responsibilities., • Implement Communications Plan alongside the Department. Analyze metrics quarterly., • Serve as the liaison for The OB Network, a monthly donation support group, including growing membership., • Maintain and grow community relations/partnerships for Operation Breakthrough, • Coordinate press coverage for center Along with Development Staff: • Assist the Development department in planning, marketing and executing OB fundraising events benefiting Operation Breakthrough including event logistics. Work with Development staff to coordinate mailings of marketing materials, record keeping and donor acknowledgement., • Assist donors bringing monetary and in-kind gifts to Operation Breakthrough., • Promote special event sponsorship opportunities among donor constituencies., • Support donors, individuals and community organizations who wish to become familiar with the center through donation of goods, touring the facility, and outside fundraising., • Serve as a liaison for specialized agency projects, providing general support as it relates to fundraising efforts, public outreach, advocacy, marketing, and other functions related to fundraising goals., • Maintain confidentiality with regard to donors and donations according to established guidelines., • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and task to meet deadlines COMPETENCIES: • Excellent interpersonal skills., • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and preferably Adobe Suite., • Fundraising software experience and database management using The Raiser’s Edge preferred., • Support the growth and development of colleagues by sharing materials/ information and by providing feedback and encouragement., • Assist with other departmental activities, which may include setting up internal and external meetings and events., • Ability to work with families in poverty and crisis and to promote communication, warmth and respect among all parents, children, staff, volunteers and agency partners., • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals including with persons of diverse cultural, social and economic backgrounds, within and outside of the agency., • Maintain a positive, respectful, professional and productive work environment including effective communication within the department and interdepartmentally., • Demonstrates excellent verbal, written and organizational skills and the ability to work independently., • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new computer programs quickly and efficiently., • Demonstrates the ability to project a positive public image for oneself and Operation Breakthrough in the community as well as in the building., • Possess a passion and commitment to Operation Breakthrough’s mission to make a positive difference in the lives of at-risk children and their families., • Possess knowledge and skills related to donor cultivation and special event planning., • Other duties as assigned. Other Requirements • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed., • Requires ability to bend, kneel and squat many times each day., • Requires ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds several times a day., • Requires maintaining CPR and First Aid certification.
