Job Description Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour Job description: Paid Two-Week Training and Onboarding Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm Extensive paid training is provided and required for all new hires. Candidates must be fully available for the full two-week period. Training is conducted in person and includes essential youth care practices, PRO-ACT certification, Naloxone (NARCAN) administration, and crisis response. Shift: Wednesday–Saturday, 1:30 PM–11:30 PM (Every other Wednesday off) Population Served: Youth ages 12 to 18 Position Overview: As a Direct Care Worker at Dimondale Adolescent Care Facility, you will provide direct supervision, structure, and support to youth residents in a Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP). Working under the direction of the Administrator and/or Facility Manager, you play a critical role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment. Staff are expected to implement trauma-informed care principles in all interactions, recognizing the impact of trauma on youth and promoting a culture of safety, trust, and empowerment. Key Responsibilities: • Implement trauma-informed care practices by recognizing signs of trauma, responding with empathy, supporting emotional regulation, and avoiding re-traumatization., • Supervise residents in accordance with facility policies, ensuring safety, structure, and positive behavior., • Support conflict resolution and apply crisis de-escalation techniques., • Conduct safety checks of the facility, including securing doors and windows at shift end., • Participate in treatment-focused group sessions and work with Social Workers on, • resident care plans., • Communicate with team regarding resident status, daily activities, and any incidents., • Supervise and document residents' participation in activities and completion of assigned chores., • Maintain detailed logs, including daily activity, behaviors, safety/security checks, and visitor logs., • Dispense medications as assigned and supervise mealtimes and snack times., • Ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy standards and confidentiality of all resident information., • Prepare and cook meals onsite for residents, including setting up, serving, supervising mealtimes, and ensuring all kitchen duties and clean-up are completed., • Engage and dine with the residents, while monitoring general mealtime behavior and manners., • Transport residents to/from school and ensure timely attendance at all appointments and activities., • Facilitate daily schedules including quiet time, study hour, chores, and group sessions., • Assist with personal hygiene, adjustment to the program, and general counseling support., • Maintain cleanliness throughout the facility, including bathrooms, bedrooms, and common areas., • Attend and participate in required staff trainings, including Pro-ACT and crisis intervention. Swing Shift Duties (1:30 PM–11:30 PM): • Review shift reports, memos, and appointment/activity boards., • Set up and supervise snack time, study hour, dinner, and evening group activities., • Oversee and check completion of all household and resident chores., • Supervise phone calls, enforce lights out, and ensure all residents are accounted for before shift end., • Communicate resident status, incidents, situation reports etc. with staff during shift exchange to ensure continued supervision and support., • Complete end-of-shift safety checks and documentation., • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent (required), • Must be at least 21 years old, • At least 1 year of experience in a youth group home or high-risk youth setting., • Have a working knowledge of and be adept at applying Crisis Intervention, • Understanding of, or ability to be trained in, trauma-informed care principles, • Physically and mentally fit to perform all duties, • Criminal background check, child abuse index clearance, and Megan’s Law clearance required, • Valid California drivers; license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier., • Current CPR/First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain upon hire), • Effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, • Ability to work as part of a team and engage with youth in a positive, supportive manner If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of youth and meet the qualifications above, we invite you to apply for the Direct Care Worker position.
