Job Description We are seeking an Automotive Technology Academic Specialist. This position falls under the supervision of the Academic Deans and is a twelve (12) month full-time position. In addition to teaching, the Automotive Technology Academic Specialist promotes and ensures the success of the program and provides support to students during their industry experiences at local agencies and particular student advisement activities. Examples of Essential Functions: • Teach twelve (12) credit hours of instruction per week. These hours can be any combination of lecture, laboratory, or field experiences., • Participate in curriculum development, planning, and program assessments projects., • Assist with the administration of grant-funded activities (if any) and assist with curriculum and assessment projects within grants., • Integrate modern technology and instructional tools effectively in the classroom., • Utilize data-informed strategies to promote and support student retention and success., • Conduct meetings as necessary for effective function of the program., • Engage in the College governance process as appropriate., • Attend professional development activities on and off campus., • Participate in all commencement and other institutional and external accreditations., • Support student learning by maintaining regular office hours., • Develop, review, and improve syllabi and curriculum for the Automotive Technology program., • Deliver high-quality instruction in improved/updated courses., • Assist with student placement in experiential learning activities (co-ops, job-shadowing, internships, practicums, and apprenticeships)., • Market and promote the automotive program on campus and in the community., • Participate in program evaluation., • Collaborate with program consultants., • Promote partnerships and collaborations with local employers, unions, and businesses., • Foster relationships and training opportunities with OEM programs (e.g., GM, ASEP, Subaru University, Ford, and/or Honda participation may vary)., • Obtain donations from industry partners of cars, parts, and consumable materials to support hands-on learning., • Recruit and retain students for the Automotive Technology program., • Maintain adequate student enrollment in the Automotive Technology program through outreach and engagement., • Support students in the learning process. A Bachelor's in the discipline and at least three (3) years of frontline experience in the industry, or a Bachelor's degree in any discipline along with at least seven (7) years of frontline experience in the industry. OR A Master's degree in a related discipline along with at least (5) years of frontline industry experience. • Strong knowledge of industry certifications, and the industry's educational and training standards., • Strong written and oral communication skills., • Teaching or industry training experience. Compensation: Salary is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The starting salary for this position is $70,000.
