Job Description Job Title: Clinical Research Nurse Job Description The primary purpose of the Research Nurse Clinician (RNC) is to ensure the successful, patient-oriented, safe, and effective conduct of clinical trials. The RNC assists investigators in preparing and implementing new clinical trials, screens and enrolls study participants, and provides protocol-related clinical management to those participants. This role serves as a resource for faculty and staff on available protocols and general research topics such as FDA, IRB, and GCP regulations. Responsibilities • Collaborate with the Protocol Activation office to initiate and activate all new clinical trial protocols utilizing a study start-up task list., • Prepare and review study tools such as study binders, medication diaries, eligibility checklists, and flow sheets., • Verify Scientific Review Board, Institutional Review Board, data collection plans, and finance/contract approvals prior to study activation., • Review protocols and collect multidisciplinary logistical, educational, and financial feedback to identify and resolve potential obstacles., • Perform protocol-related nursing education for other disciplines to ensure safe and effective care of enrolled patients., • Translate protocol treatment plans into sample orders., • Collaborate with the clinical research team for timely prescreening of potential subjects for clinical trials., • Review patient charts and medical history to confirm protocol eligibility and obtain necessary source documents., • Ensure informed consent is obtained and documented in accordance with IRB, GCP, and institutional policies., • Register consented research patients with study sponsors and input information into the OnCore® clinical trials database., • Serve as an essential link between patients and research team members, identifying and addressing any challenges., • Ensure protocol-specific orders are executed accurately, coordinating protocol-specified treatments between disciplines., • Manage patient reimbursements and deliver high-quality oncology nursing care in coordination with clinical teams., • Facilitate collaboration with academic medical system staff to ensure coordinated and timely delivery of services., • Grade adverse events using NCI common toxicity criteria and complete Serious/Unexpected Adverse Event forms., • Assist with monitoring visits and audits, providing responses to sponsor queries., • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey., • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred., • One year of oncology experience required., • Three to five years of oncology research experience preferred., • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification., • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN) preferred., • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills., • Proficiency in computer applications such as Word and Excel., • Association of Clinical Research Professional as a Clinical Research Analyst (CRA) or Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) certification as a Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) preferred., • Experience in clinical research coordination, patient screening, and study coordination. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Brunswick, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
