Job Description The Davidson Fishberg Center for Health and Wellness at the Marlene Meyerson Jewish Community Center in Manhattan (the JCC) is looking for an enthusiastic and responsible individual to fill a Full-Time Manager on Duty (MOD) position for the Fitness Center Reception Desk Our Fitness Center offers a holistic approach to stimulating your mind, strengthening your body, engaging your heart, and connecting you to a caring community. With nutrition, aquatics, fitness, and mindfulness programs all integrated under one roof, you have everything you need to fulfill your personal goals: move, nourish, connect, restore. an enthusiastic and member-focused The Manager on Duty acts in a supervisory capacity when on shift, makes adjustments to the schedule when needed, and addresses issues with necessary follow-up to the Director. In addition, the MOD is responsible for writing and sending the daily shift reports. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Warmly greet members and guests as they arrive and depart the fitness center, using names when possible. Check members and guests into the facilities and classes. Provide information and answer questions in a clear and friendly manner. Verify account status. Notify members, record any problems with their accounts, and offer to help resolve issues. Handle complaints and concerns in a timely or immediate fashion when possible. Monitor equipment and report repairs. Have a basic knowledge of how each piece of equipment operates. Adhere to safety policies and procedures. Stay aware of potential hazards or unsafe conditions and report them immediately to management, facilities, and maintenance. Perform administrative duties, including sending and receiving daily emails, computer entry, photocopying, printing, etc. Respond immediately to all emergency situations in the building by calling security. In case of an emergency, MODs need to document the incident, obtain pertinent information, and follow up with management and Security. Adhere to all dress code regulations. Be familiar with and enforce member service standards. Exhibit awareness of and enthusiasm for all programs offered by the Club. As needed, assist with special projects, events, and promotions. Attend all meetings and training sessions as required. ADDITIONAL FULL-TIME REQUIREMENTS Check inventory and maintain all saleable front desk items. Take attendance for all group fitness classes, confirming that all registrants are current fitness center members. For non-fitness members, a class card or payment is required. Schedule massages, group exercise classes, assessments, wellness coaching, and appointments. Before scheduling an appointment, make sure the member or guest has purchased a session or package. Follow established procedures for collecting money and preparing receipts. Distribute towels, locker keys, and vanity products. Inspect locker rooms periodically (5 th floor fitness reception). Monitor lost and found items. Working New Year's Day at our annual Fitness festival is mandatory. When the Engagement team is unavailable, MODs are required to assist with potential member tours. This includes contacting the potential member to confirm their appointment, sending the health declaration in advance, providing a friendly tour of the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors, and sending follow-up notes to Membership. Model the highest standards of safety for fellow staff and members. Reported COVID symptoms to a supervisor immediately, and follow best practices recommended by the CDC should be followed. Ensure that members comply with all health and safety protocols, such as hand-washing, hand-sanitizing, social distancing, and wiping down equipment. Respond to issues around health & safety measures and engage supervisor support or Security when necessary to de-escalate any situation. Keep Director and others informed of any health & safety issues, reports of ill members, reports of Covid being reported to JCC in person, email or phone. REQUIREMENTS High School graduate or equivalent. Experience in a similar environment is preferred. Current CPR certification or a willingness to become certified (training can be provided) and maintain certification for use if needed. Computer literacy: Word, Excel, and a willingness to learn other computer programs as required by the job. Mindbody knowledge is preferred. POSITION DESCRIPTION City Parks Foundation (CPF) seeks a youth developer with experience in youth internships and the out-of-school time (OST) education field. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to cultivate strong relationships with CPF and Partnerships for Parks staff, key program partners, students and families. The manager, CCR, will lead CPF’s CCR program and will provide support in youth development principles and strategies to frontline staff with special attention to strengthening curricula, assessment and protocols relating to job readiness and socio-emotional learning. The position will require an innovative leader who can proactively and enthusiastically achieve the full potential of CPF’s youth and workforce development programming. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong connections in the youth and workforce development fields and provide a bridge to workforce and college networks and related social services for CityParks Learn, which runs programs primarily for historically marginalized and vulnerable NYC youth in all five boroughs. Essential Job Responsibilities • Implement curriculum and materials that enrich the faith formation of preschoolers and school-aged children., • Help create worship experiences founded in best practices of play, exploration, and discovery., • Co-create, with the Minister for Intergenerational Christian Education and Formation and the Director of Youth and College/Early Career Adults, faith formation experiences in addition to church school and Sunday morning worship that serve to help children connect to the Bible, the way of Jesus, other Christians, other forms of spirituality, and other faith traditions., • Provide opportunities for integrating children and adults in healthy, mutually beneficial intergenerational contexts, such as Family Worship, Children’s Sabbath, and the Family Christmas Eve service., • Explore new and fresh ways to make children and families feel more comfortable in corporate worship experiences., • Ensure education volunteers and staff follow church Safe Sanctuary policies. Family Engagement • Work with the Minister of Intergenerational Christian Education & Formation to create a robust support system for parents and guardians., • Design monthly gatherings to promote family interconnectedness and relationship building., • Explore new and fresh ways to engage families during the summer months., • Develop and sustain existing partnerships with community organizations that advocate for justice issues that impact children and families., • Develop and sustain programming that engages the children in our New York City neighborhood, such as the Harvest Festival., • Explore possibilities for summer engagement of area children with Riverside children. Collaboration • Partner with the worship team to create worship experiences in the nave that enrich the faith formation of children and families., • Utilize gifts of writing, music, and storytelling to communicate the gospel in intergenerational ways., • Partner with the Minister of Social Justice to educate children and families on the importance of justice work., • Create pathways toward activism and service that are appropriate for children and families., • Partner with the Minister of Parish Care to facilitate counseling and care for children and families., • Communicate with Directors of children’s choirs to facilitate transitions between education, choir, and worship participation., • Partner with the ministry to older adults to create connections between age groups., • Partner with the Director of Youth and College/Early Career Adults on children and youth worship planning and implementation. Leadership and Management • Recruit a strong team of educational leaders for church school and other Riverside programming for children and families., • Provide leadership, development, and direction for church school leaders and other adults who volunteer with programming., • Provide leadership and management for summer staff, • Provide leadership and management for childcare staff hired to serve in the nursery and preschool areas., • Evaluate lay and employed staff and volunteers., • Create a space where our youngest congregants feel safe and welcomed., • M.Div. degree (or comparable graduate education) and minimum five (5) years of experience in this area., • Educational or teaching experience with children of varying ages, abilities, demographics, and backgrounds., • Teaching or pastoral experience in a congregation with a multi-cultural membership and diverse staff., • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal., • Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other ministries and staff., • Superb skill in administration, budgeting, and staff supervision., • Theological understanding consistent with the core values of the Riverside Church.
