Job Description Title: Children’s Center Substitute Teacher (Per-Diem) Rate: $25.00 per hour Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly, Per-Diem Reports to: Lead Teacher, Assistant Teacher, Program Coordinator Location: Poughkeepsie, NY Function: The Substitute Teacher assists the Lead Teacher at the Children’s Center at the Dutchess County Family Court in compliance with all NYS Office of Court Administration Children’s Center Program agreements. The Substitute Teacher supports everyone's right to thrive by providing a safe and creative curriculum for children while their families attend to court business and offers consultation to families for resources within the community. The position enthusiastically supports, practices, and communicates the agency’s Mission and Statement of Values. Center Hours: • Associates in early childcare/education and a minimum of 1 year of experience working with children OR, • NYS Certificate in childcare and a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children OR, • High School Diploma and a minimum of 3 years of experience working with children., • The successful candidate ideally will have experience in children’s programming for mixed ages, crisis management, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and community resources. Position Responsibilities: Program Administration: • Responsible for the direct care and safety of the children left in the center., • Implements and maintains the health and safety protocol/procedures and maintains visible instructive printouts of these procedures., • Will assure center follows all program safety and confidentiality guidelines., • Assisting with required intakes and reports., • Prepares and submits information for monthly reports to appropriate entities., • Secures the intake paperwork in proper location., • Maintains statistical records necessary for reports and research., • Planning, development, and evaluation of program activities., • Designs and carries out curriculum and activities based on the needs and development of children in the center at any given time., • Develops and implements monthly/seasonal themes and constructive activities in a long-range plan., • Will implement the established curriculum guidelines., • Assisting with the distribution of referral and resource information to caregivers based on their and their children’s needs., • Remains informed on current local resources and services., • Assesses the needs of the caregiver and will respond to them through referrals to appropriate agency/program., • Providing appropriate, creative, supportive interactions with the children in the center in group and individual activities., • Develop creative “in-class” programs based on age and present teachable moments. Community/Partner Liaison • As a representative of the Agency, shares our values, knowledge, and skills with other organizations, community groups, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders. Maintains good relationships with stakeholders and partners to advocate for clients and those working in the field of human services., • Participate in program outreach to the community and expand service reach by researching community organizations and providing community outreach through presentations. Job Description SUMMARY: Oversees all operational functions in the Center, including maintenance of the property, project management and tenant coordination to help maintain and enhance the value of the property at the lowest possible cost as well to the operating budget. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Oversees maintenance of building and property including all personnel assigned to carry out tasks associated with said maintenance., 2. Oversees and supervises housekeeping and security services to insure contract obligations are met. Review and assess the day to day incident and accident reports. Coordinate and conduct monthly safety meetings., 3. Develops, maintains, and ensures high quality merchant relations related to operational functions in their stores. Review leases to determine area of responsibility., 4. Maintains open communication with town officials to help determine what improvements and developments would be mutually beneficial for both community and the company., 5. Oversees and approves the development of a Preventative Maintenance Program for all assigned areas., 6. Develops and maintains a budget that ensures proper maintenance of the property at the highest possible level and the lowest possible cost. Develops and maintains construction budgets for expansion, relocations and other tenant coordination., 7. Negotiates and manages contracts for tenant relocations, Cap Ex Projects and service contracts., 8. Negotiates and prepares contracts for any outside firm that helps to maintain or enhance the operational value of the Center., 9. Maintains communication with Tenant Coordinator to monitor construction related to tenant openings or expansion. Reviews and approves tenant prints to insure compliance with Pyramid Tenant Handbook and Building/Fire Codes., 10. Monitors liability exposure and determines the best possible way to prevent exposure., 11. Oversees the monitoring of Center utilities. Implements energy-conservation and cost-saving measures while maintaining appropriate service., 12. Acts as Manager on Duty on assigned weekends. SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: Maintenance Supervisor, Mechanic(s), Exterior and Interior Maintenance, Landscaping and Housekeeping and indirectly supervises contract janitorial services (where applicable) EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree in Business, Building Administration or related field or equivalent work experience EXPERIENCE: Five years experience in general building operations, property management, or project management maintenance. One to three years supervisory experience. Budget preparation, cost control and energy management. In addition, excellent communication skills and experience in personnel management and merchant customer relations. OTHER QUALITIES: Ability to meet deadlines, interpersonal skills, manage projects, ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings and attention to detail.
