Job DescriptionJob Title: Production Associate – Sandblast Operator (2nd Shift) Job Description The Production Associate – Sandblast Operator on 2nd shift operates specialized sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare large metal assemblies for paint finishing. This highly physical role focuses on safely removing paint, rust, grime, adhesives, and other surface imperfections while maintaining equipment, following detailed instructions, and supporting other finishing departments as needed in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Operate specialized sandblasting machinery that directs high-powered jets of sand at metal assemblies within a dedicated sandblast room., • Remove paint, grime, adhesives, rust, and other surface imperfections from large metal structures to prepare them for paint finishing., • Perform highly physical work that requires sustained stamina and upper body strength throughout the shift., • Handle metal parts and operate equipment safely to prevent injury and avoid damage to parts, machinery, and production flow., • Perform minor equipment maintenance to keep sandblasting machinery and related tools in proper working condition., • Prep and mask metal parts and frames prior to sandblasting and finishing processes., • Remain flexible with daily tasks and support cross-training efforts in assembly, paint, and other finishing departments as needed., • Follow written and verbal instructions accurately to complete assigned tasks to quality and safety standards., • Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting production goals and timelines., • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner in a fast-paced manufacturing environment., • Adhere to all safety procedures when working around chemicals, sand products, and heavy equipment., • Maintain a clean and organized work area in and around the sandblast room.Essential Skills, • High school diploma or GED., • 1–2 years of experience in a related field, such as general labor, sandblasting, or metal finishing., • Experience operating power tools and working with heavy equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment., • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including sandblasting metal parts and frames, with sustained stamina and upper body strength., • Ability to prep and mask metal parts and frames for sandblasting and finishing., • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following instructions accurately., • Flexibility with schedule to provide coverage across shifts and take on additional duties when needed., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and complete tasks on time., • Capability to work around and with chemicals and sand products safely., • Positive attitude and willingness to support the team and learn new tasks.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience in sandblasting, paint preparation, or metal finishing is highly beneficial., • Comfort working with general labor tasks in a manufacturing setting., • Openness to cross-training in assembly, paint, and other finishing departments., • Strong attention to detail when preparing, masking, and inspecting metal parts., • Reliability and consistent attendance to support production schedules.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a modern manufacturing facility with excellent upkeep and strong lighting. You will work in and around a sandblast room with exposure to sand, dust, heavy equipment, machinery, and related industrial noise levels. The position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, squatting, and continuous movement throughout the shift. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds using proper ergonomic techniques. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with interactive diagrams and clear instructions available in every department to guide daily work and support safe operation of equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Binghamton, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
